In absence of any further info.. some speculation?  ;)

I’m wondering if by the name it’s giving a hint that it won’t necessarily be a direct continuation of the movie or of Judy and Nick’s journey.  Zootopia+ could imply that it’s open to telling many and varied stories from all across the city of Zootopia.  

Or it may be that it’ll be a bunch of short stories involving Judy and Nick.  This way it still leaves things open for a Zootopia 2 when they have a story big enough and momentous enough to turn into a full feature. 

Of course, it could also use the format of a serial to tell such a big and involved story, drawn out with greater completeness, nuance, and complexity than a movie would allow.  Which could be great!

Whatever it turns out to be, the film set such a high bar for both storytelling quality as well as its deep philosophical core (hence my Zootopia Meditations series exploring them :) that this new series will have a lot to live up to.

First look at Zootopia+

A new trailer has been released for Zootopia+. No release date was specified.

“Zootopia+” heads back to the fast-paced mammal metropolis of Zootopia in a short-form series that dives deeper into the lives of some of the Oscar-winning feature film’s most intriguing residents, including Fru Fru, the fashion-forward arctic shrew; ZPD dispatcher Clawhauser, the sweet-toothed cheetah; and Flash, the smiling sloth who’s full of surprises.
