I need to get this off my chest because Zoro glazers are genuinely the worst part of the One Piece fandom. I love Zoro he’s one of the best characters in the series but his fanbase? Absolutely unbearable. They rewrite him into some alpha male caricature and then act like that’s canon. It’s exhausting.
Let me say this clearly:
No, he is not better than Sanji.
They are equals. Oda has been telling you this for 25 years. Wano feats don’t magically erase everything Sanji has done. And no, Zoro does not “solo Big Mom.” I can’t believe that even needs to be said.
No, he’s not “only loyal to Luffy.”
He loves the entire crew. He trusts them with his life. He literally ate dirty rice off the ground to make a little girl happy. That’s who he is. He’s not some cold, edgy lone wolf he’s a shy, awkward softie who shows love through actions, not words. Just because he shows his love differently doesn’t mean it’s any less.
No, he’s not “the most loyal.”
Every Straw Hat is loyal. That’s the whole point of the crew. The “nothing happened” moment was iconic, yes, but it doesn’t put him above anyone else. It was a crew moment, not a “Zoro is the only real one” moment.
No, Luffy doesn’t love Zoro the most.
Luffy doesn’t rank his friends. His love isn’t tiered. He values all of them equally, and he doesn’t play favorites. Stop projecting.
No, Zoro is not a mean person.
His introduction was literally him protecting a child. He’s blunt, not cruel. His own fans reduce him to “strength” and “badass moments” when that’s not even why Luffy chose him. Luffy chose him because he’s kind, dependable, and has a good heart.
No, his writing isn’t bad.
Simple writing doesn’t mean bad writing. Could it be stronger considering how important he is? Sure. But he does have character development. He went from being cocky in every fight to actually respecting his opponents and choosing battles he knows he can win. It’s subtle, but it’s there he’s a reserved character, not a loud one.
No, he would not have killed Sanji in Whole Cake Island.
He’s not stupid. He would’ve understood Sanji’s situation immediately. Zoro isn’t some mindless attack dog; he’s thoughtful and protective of his crew.
And yes Zoro’s biggest fear is losing his friends. They mean everything to him. That’s why it’s so frustrating watching his own fanbase twist him into this emotionless “alpha” who only cares about Luffy and swordsmanship. You don’t love Zoro. You love the version you made up.
Zoro is a great character. He’s layered, loyal, caring, and quietly emotional. It’s sad seeing him reduced to “strength” and “Luffy’s guard dog,” especially when that reduction always comes at the expense of other Straw Hats. Zoro would hate the way his fans talk about the crew. He trusts them with his life you think he’d let you disrespect them like that? Be serious.
I love Zoro. I really do.
But his fanbase? I cannot stand them.
