Title: The Near Divide Author: Tonko Pairing(s) or No Pairing: Zoro/Usopp; Brook/Robin Rating: Explicit Genre: Hurt/comfort, drama, romance Complete/Ongoing: Complete Oneshot/Multi-Chapter: Oneshot, 68656 words Summary: Set in an AU where everyone has a daemon, à la Pullmans His Dark Materials book trilogy; in other respects much like canon. The defeat of a villain leaves deep wounds among some of the Strawhats and their daemons. Usopp and Zoro, who are separated from the others, are in the most trouble - and their daemon bonds seem to have gotten tangled up with each other. Pre-timeskip. Review: Even though this has explicit scenes with the main pairing (the secondary pairing, Brook/Robin, is a lot less physical and may well remain so), this in many ways feels more like an ensemble fic with particular focus on Zoro and Usopp than a romance. The focus is on closeness, on healing from trauma through interaction with other people, of accepting help and welcome touches. There is also a sympathetic Marine OC who finds his view of pirates overthrown. As pretty much always with this writer, the hurt/comfort is heartfelt and sweet, and the eventual sex is both hot and fluffy. Links: http://archiveofourown.org/works/553094
