Once upon a time St.Mary's Island off Malpe, KA was connected to Madagascar. Then the Indian subcontinent raced away to slam into Tibet, dragging these strange hexagonal rock formations along.

Ammonites, similar to the modern nautilus and related to squids and octopi, lived in shallow ancient seas worldwide for hundreds of millions of years. They probably moved by jet propulsion and caught their prey in tentacles. Ammonites became extinct around the same time as the dinosaurs. Some fossils preserve the ammonites' pearly sheen.
