📌 MY YARN UNRAVELS WHILE I KNIT 📌 . I learned something new today. . I am aware that yarns are spun differently. Some have S-twist, others have Z-twist. But I never bothered to look at each one closely. . Prior to my current WIP (Butterfly Shawl) I must have used yarns with S twist so when I knit Western style, it’s okay. . With this WIP, I noticed that my contrast color untwists when I knit. It turns out that it has a Z twist. . I read an article that mentioned Z twisted yarns unravel when Western knitting style is used. So, I shifted the working yarn to my left hand (Continental or Eastern). I noticed the yarn was not untwisting. . So now I have to learn this method. It is making me go slow as I am not used to it. Hopefully I’ll gain speed as I do. . Original article https://yarnsub.com/articles/twist . PHOTO: Stitches on the left of the marker were knit Continental style and are twisted. . Stitches on the right of the marker were knit Western style and are untwisted. #knitsbymay #maydtknits #twist #ztwist #stwist #untwist
