Yeah :( seriously people really need to stop this. I am very aware of the perniciousness of whitewashing, but being against white washing =/= assuming people from a region with a lot of dark hair CAN'T have light hair. Just as although I agreed with Himaruya's portrayal of India as a brown-skinned man with black hair (i.e that's a good average), humans are incredibly diverse biologically- and I was pretty mad when another anon wrote about their friend getting told she couldn't be Indian because she didn't fit the most common traits.

I feel it's totally terrible to make people feel they're not "_______" enough :-/ Don't do that. Whitewashing is bad, but so is saying things like, "Huh, you're ______? But you're too light!" (I got that myself), "How can you be ________? I thought you guys only had black hair!" Do not expect people to fit into a neat box. This planet has 7 BILLION PEOPLE! Scientists don't even use race as a category because it's a useless social construct but categorise people with reference to language, culture and geographic origin.
