Night Bus: Park People
Night Bus by Zuo Ma launches this week! Published by Drawn & Quarterly and coming in at over 400 pages, this is the most significant books of Chinese comics to be published in North America. Tremendous credit to D&Q for doing such a beautiful edition of this work.

Night Bus: Catboy
As we get close to the launch of Night Bus by Zuo Ma, published by Drawn & Quarterly, a new edition of the book is coming out in China as well. This rerelease of the book is substantially different from the first edition, with major structural revisions and more than 40 additional pages. In a statement on his Weibo, Zuo Ma explained that he wanted to correct some parts of the book he was unsatisfied with when it originally came out. The English edition will include the updated version of the story.

Coming Soon! Paradise Systems founder Orion Martin is translating Night Bus by Zuo Ma, coming out this summer from Drawn & Quarterly. Night Bus will collect both of major Zuo Ma's works, the short story anthology Walk and the graphic novel Night Bus.

Fairy Tale by Zuo Ma. This short comic published by Yanshu Books features a few characters from his graphic novel Night Bus, and showcases his trademark blend of realist detail and surrealist imagery.

Available now! We are shipping copies of Narrative Addiction 13 (2023)! This is the most recent installment of the long running comics magazine by Yan Cong and Zuo Ma. Both cartoonists have completed new chapters of their respective long running series. Yan Cong's is a surrealist trip among multiple distinct but overlapping groups of characters, while Zuo Ma's is a fictional story about teenagers growing up in China in the 1990s. At the back of the book are advertisements commissioned by supporters that made the book possible.
Image description: The cover features a drawing of a videogame character walking into the sunset, stylized to reference the pixelation of classic arcade games. Further images show comics featuring a fist fight between two robots and Chinese school children meeting before class starts.
Paradise Systems has been working with Yan Cong and Zuo Ma on the next edition of Narrative Addiction, coming out later this year. There is such an incredibly rich history to this publication, which we will get into more. One notable feature is that for the past several issues, Yan Cong and Zuo Ma have been drawing ads in order to support the publication. Here we are reposting the open call for ads. Unfortunately, all the ads were sold out in a matter of hours. (Paradise Systems barely got one). If you would like to be informed early for the next time we do this, join our email list here! http://eepurl.com/cT_m1v
Repost from Yan Cong's Instagram:
English version of ”Narrative Addiction“ 14 issue advertising spaces for rent
The 14th issue of the new ”Narrative Addiction“ will be published in the United States @paradisesystems ,and it will be an all English magazine. That will probably be true in the future, so everyone should work on their English! (Me too!)
In the 14th issue, some advertising spaces will still be set up to pay for the labor of comic authors, translators, and designers. However, this time we will also solicit advertisements from all over the world, and the advertising text content needs to be entirely in English. The size and price of the advertising space are shown in the following figure.
Characteristics of advertising space 1. Advertising slogan within maximum 20 English words. 2. The advertisement is drawn by @yancongyancongyancong or @zuoma1983 . 3. Buying an ad is an act of no-strings-attached sponsorship. The hand-drawn advertisement will be a surprise for sponsors, so there is no party A or party B. The sponsor will only know the final form of the advertisement after the book is published. 4. The revenue from one page of advertising space is 210USD, with 63USD allocated to each author and 42USD allocated to each designer and translator. 5. Advertising space is just for fun, we have no obligations to the sponsors. 6. The total number of advertisement pages is 10, and it will remain empty until it is filled. If it is not filled, it will remain empty. 7. The sponsor will receive a new ”Narrative Addiction“ 14 issue (International shipping is not included)
Friends who want to sponsor Narrative Addiction issue 14 can contact me via private message on my Instagram, and the payment method is PayPal.
Please help forward this! thank you!———— These are advertisements from issues 12 and 13 of Narrative Addiction, which can be used as a reference.
