His hand slid along her spine and she could almost feel each fingertip grazing across her skin. Seductively, hypnotically, his presence alone was magnetic.

The dance floor seemed to fade into a fog around them until just the two of them stood amidst the neon lights.

He pulled her closer, melding with her more and more.

Their bodies intertwined and their breathing became one. She wrapped her leg around him and pulled him even closer. Their lips grazed as they mouthed the words to the music together.

His eyes, pools of deep midnight with drops of moonlight in them, looked at her and there was a shift. She couldn't pull herself away from his gaze, from his touch. It had to be the alcohol, the club, the music. At least she'd hoped it was. The sun would rise and these moments would be distant echoes of their time together.

The fog lifted, the lights faded, and it all went black. Before she knew it, the sun was greeting her. Waking up, she realized she was not in her own bed. Taking in her surroundings, it hadn't been a memory or a dream. He was there beside her. His tattooed back reminding her of last night.

He'd turned towards her before she could find her way out of his bed, his place, and his life. Their eyes met and she was immediately at ease. That initial instinct to run that she carried so often was fading and she was calmed by his presence. No drinks and no dancing fueling them and she still found herself wanting to be there. He brushed his hair out of his face and sat up to greet her properly. Caressing her cheek, he kissed her softly before reaching for her hand.

Fuck…

How did she find herself in the company of a Yakuza? And more importantly, why didn't she want to leave?
