She’s terrified of what he might say, she doesn’t know why, but she wants to get away from him now more than ever. ‘I couldn’t chase my father’s love and yours at the same time.’

This fic probably has one of the best plots in history. I'm such a sucker for fictions that kinda bend time or space that focuses on a pairing. (Probably why I find Reylo's connection within force really interesting and I thought that kind of tropes had lots of potentials, even if I don't ship them that much)

If you (anyone who's reading it) haven't read it before, I highly recommend it.

That last line, in particular is my favorite one and it stuck with me. 💖

Ok, Iroh is 100% a zutara shipper and it's CANON. I hc that he knows Zuko has feelings for Katara before Zuko realises it himself because he just understands his nephew so well. He thinks Katara is wonderful and a perfect match for Zuko.

Once Zuko opens up about it, Iroh goes out of his way to create opportunities for the two to spend time together like inviting Katara over for tea and sneaking away to give Zuko and Katara some private time hehe. Zuko probably gets so embarrassed lol.

Hakoda would have his reservations about Zuko at first. Sure, he played a big role in Ozai's defeat and even risked his life for Katara, but he's also Fire Nation. Zuko tries his best to win Hakoda's favour when he starts dating Katara but he's bad at social interactions so progress isn't great.

Then Hakoda ends up asking Zuko abt his scar and Zuko casually mentions Ozai gave it to him and... well, now Hakoda has adopted the boy.

Who do you think is more anti animals on the bed? Zuko or Katara? Before you answer remember, Zuko has never carried Momo and he had an ostrich horse for weeks without naming it. Also note, Katara had an issue with Appa shedding AND she loves Momo the most. ALSO NOTE, Zuko is loved by animals near and far like the turtle ducks and Appa. PLEASE ALSO REMEMBER, they are both Aang’s friends and Aang is infectious

I think both of them are just major cuddlers in general. Both of them wear their hearts on their sleeves, but Zuko comes from a touch starved childhood, unlike Katara's youth, which was close-knit and deeply reliant on one another—making physical affection sometimes all they had. Therefore, I think sometimes they can communicate with touch sometimes more effectively than with words, especially in Zuko’s case. That said, I think that they both love animals. I can see Zuko try (and fail) to be very stoic and gainst having pets, but end up being super enamored and affectionate with them. Zuko and Katara love their animals and see them as their fur babies.

I can't see either of them being anti pets on the bed except in certain activities situations. For instance, as I mentioned before, they are both significant cuddlers, and so Zuko wouldn't want anything or anyone getting in the way of his cuddle time with katara. So he would be a very grumpy fire lord if he didn't have his midnight cuddles with his significant other.

On the other hand, Katara is adaptable as her bending element dictates she's good with change, so she would welcome the animals to cuddle with her. Katara is all about sharing the love. Zuko doesn't like sharing his girlfriend/wife with anyone else, even their animals.

As for the examples you give above, Katara was more unhappy with Appa's shedding because it led them to be tracked by Azula and her gang but also because she was in charge of maintaining and taking care of everyone and everything so this was just another thing to ass to her ever-expanding list of responsibilities. But Katara has been shown to love animals, and I think her closeness to both Momo and Appa proves that.

Zuko seems like the type of person who is used to people he cares about leaving him, so I can see him being hesitant around animals because he's afraid of losing them somehow. But, as you said, they gravitate towards him. Animals are known for their sixth sense in seeing the good in people. So it just showed how good of a person Zuko was before he joined the Gaang and after. He's the reluctant animal owner, he pushes away those he can get attached to, but the animals don't give him a choice anyway, so he has to accept that animals and women like Katara can love him for who he is. A lot of Zuko's fears stem from his conditioning to believe he is not worthy, so he needs Katara, his animals, and in the future, his children to remind him of that.

Also, I know this wasn't part of the question, but bringing up the turtle ducks made me remember my headcanon that Zuko had a giant stuffed turtle duck as a kid.

Okay so, in my perfect world, Azula gets the therapy and help she needs. But, she can still be a difficult person to deal with.

When she finds out about Zuko dating Katara, she is actually not that suprised. She had an inkling something was going on between them during the Final Agni Kai.

She can't help but be snarky about it, though. She makes fun of them often but it's nothing too vicious. Sometimes she crosses the line by doing things like calling Katara a "peasant" but Zuko and Katara are quick to check her.

Deep down Azula knows that they make a good match and she's actually happy for Zuzu but she'll never tell him that.

16. Well, I like to think that Katara and Zuko eventually did have feelings for each other post canon. Or, even after the Agni Kai.... The foundation was there for such a compelling love story!!

18. Oooo okay so Toph and Suki been knew for a while. Toph, bc she can feel their hearbeats and Suki because Katara needed to confide in someone lol. Aang will probably be super suprised and a little hurt at first, but he eventually accepts it and is really happy to see his two best friends happy together. I like to think that he'll become their biggest fan besides Iroh. Sokka is upset about it at first just because he's overprotective of his little sister but it doesn't last long cause he likes Zuko. I think they would be super happy for them tbh.

19. Ahhhhh man, Book 4 would have been PERFECT to develop zutara. If we just ignore the fact that Bryke would never be with it lmao. I mean, as much as I love zutara, I do think it would have been a little rushed for them to end up together by the end of the series. Maybe I'm just a sucker for slow burn but I think they needed more development for a romantic relationship. Book 4 would have been a good way to do that. It could have been done in the comics but....
