For the Pride Asks: 3, 4, 14, and 21?
thank you! for the OC questions, the OC Roulette has spun you... hoo boy, it's spun you Henry, so this'll be fun.
3. How did your oc discover themself? Did something cause them to question, or did they always know?
As the omniscient author, I can tell you that Henry is a woman-leaning bisexual, but in the story he absolutely does not think of himself as anything other that straight because it's the 1930s and he's very attached to being a powerful patriarchal man. It doesn't count as gay in prison, and it definitely doesn't count if the twink looks like a woman if you squint. Even when his fuckin' wife is bigender/genderfluid and is a man half the time, he like... refuses to acknowledge that the fact that he's okay with this probably Says Something.
In a hypothetical world where he does figure it out, it would probably be... if Percy started testosterone or something and Henry realizes he's not less attracted to him now like he expected to be. If he thinks about it for longer than 5 minutes, he would be embarrassed to tell anyone. He'd probably try repressing it even harder than before.
4. Is your oc's environment supportive about their identity? How does this impact them?
Well it's the 1930s and he's in the mafia so not... very.
He's in the state of being able to perform patriarchal masculinity very well, through his presence (scary), actions (crime), and career (business). Henry doesn't think of himself as anything other than a perfect reflection of who he's supposed to be, but he knows he's on the edge of a knife. If he flinches in this position, he'll be torn apart and easily replaced by another guy who's just as hungry for power and glory as he was in his youth. He's only supported insofar as he plays the game. Fortunately for him, and unfortunately for everyone else, he's very good at it.
14. Do you have ocs on the aro or ace spectrum?
I have been creating more of them as of late! Particularly aromantic characters, since discovering that I'm aromantic myself as a sort of.. projection and exploration experience lmao
Dante from P&J is ace, and various characters from the book club are on both the ace and aro spectrums, I've got Ceki and Aimar from Athendrolyn After Dark who have an aro4aro thing going on, Dee from the Space Cruise WIP is aro, and I shall surely create more!
21. Free ramble card wee
Okay so since I did that big ol' ask for Ceki and Aimar, and Aimar knocked on the inside of my brain to tell me what his sexuality is, I have thought about how funny it is that now I have two characters whose sexuality can be described as "i'm gay for men, unless...?"
Because Zyg really entered my mind as a classic dandy from the Victorian era, except a crocodile. He's the failson of a wealthy and politically powerful family who constantly disappoints them by being defiant in the face of their annoyance, so the wrist limps itself right? But I also cannot envision any situation in which a human approaches him romantically and/or sexually and he turns them down. No matter what gender. If it's a human, he's down, he's like so embarrassingly down for Any Human, Ever.
And now Aimar, who is allergic to romance but is simultaneously very jealous of those he does care about, who would absolutely insert himself into a situation if like... he saw Ceki getting with someone else and got annoyed. Either creating a threesome or finding someone else nearby to distract himself with. I do think the hypothetical woman he'd get with would have to be willing to top him, I can't imagine him topping a woman even at his most irritable.
