How I Got into Pokémon Glitches

Did you know that the first Pokémon games were full of fascinating errors in code, called glitches? I’m incredibly captivated by the mysteries behind them and by what they can do! So, let’s have a look at how I personally got into them! ✨

There is something poetic about the ZZAZZ glitch in the original Pokemon games.

It’s caused by encountering glitched Pokemon trainers that are so rich that the game breaks while counting their money and starts corrupting itself.

If you manage to escape, your name has changed and your Pokemon have been replaced with Bulbasaurs that only know how to explode.

Not even pausing or using the menu is safe due to the spreading corruption. The save menu might have fake options that crash the game. If you manage to save, you might be unable to load.

But there is a way to fix the save menu. You can talk to Nurse Joy, and when she ask you if you want to heal your Pokemon she also inadvertently heals the menu itself.

Game’s still broke obviously and you probably can’t load, but it’s pretty neat how talking to Nurse Joy is enough to fix the save menu.
