In May of 1944, B-17 Flying Fortress “Donna Mae II” is downed by the friendly bombs of fellow B-17 “Trudy”.

One of Trudy’s 1000 pound bombs tore off the left horizontal stabilizer & sent the plane into an unrecoverable spin. All 11 crew members were killed.
