[Narcissa text]: Narcissa Black, I doubt you know me?
[Narcissa text]: As a law practitioner I don't usually condone this but...
[Narcissa text]: Please tell me you were using some form of substance?
[Narcissa text]: Because that is the only way any of this will make sense.
Lucius did not bother to respond to the tea or coffee question. He knew that Kitty knew exactly how he liked his tea, and equally that if he had annoyed her, that he was unlikely to get one anyway. He would know by whether she brought him a cup or not, and by how much milk was in it, exactly how irritated his secretary was, and how hard he would have to work to make amends.
“Yes, she is. And she is also exceptionally good at her job, but unfortunately knows it. But I would not worry about first impressions. You will have enough time to get to know one another.” He talked as though it was a sure thing that she would be working with him as he sauntered over to his desk and leaned against it, looking at her. “As you have no doubt gathered, this is my office. How was your meeting?”
Narcissa lifted an eyebrow at his comment, “You are making assumptions now, Mr. Malfoy.” She sauntered over to the window, appreciating the view. “You have a lovely office, though I wouldn’t have expected anything else. Very… roomie.”
After giving the office an overlook, she directed her sight back at Lucius, “It went alright. More than alright, to be honest.” She cleared her throat awkwardly, hating to give Lucius Malfoy any reason to say I told you so. But the offer was just too good to decline. “I am handing over my letter of resignation today and will start on the 16th of May.” She wanted to drag it out, make him ask for every single detail but Narcissa was too excited. She needed to share it with somebody and Amycus was unavailable.

It wasn’t often that Lucius heard his secretary, Kitty, raise her voice, and when she had in the past, it was usually because he had done something foolish to upset her carefully laid plans for him. She was exceptionally good at her job, keeping him, and his many appointment, in order, and making excuses for him whenever it was required. Her loyalty was something that he rewarded with generous bonuses, and even this early in his career, he knew that he would be unlikely to find a replacement. And if she was easy on the eye then, for once, it had not been the reason why he had kept her on for so long.
So it was unusual for him to hear her in what sounded like a dispute outside his door, especially when he had not forewarned her of an impending visit that he wished to avoid. Hearing the commotion he poked his head out of the doorway, and sauntered through when he spotted Narcissa.
“Is there a problem?” he enquired, brow raised at Kitty.
“This girl says she’s here to see you. I was just about to show her the way out.” If he was amused at Kitty’s protective streak, he tried desperately to not show it.
“While I am sure you only meant to be useful by starting the tour early, that won’t be necessary. Miss Black is here to see the office.” The look he received was more than enough to remind him that he had not, in fact, told Kitty that he had scheduled this appointment. And while he knew he would be lectured later, he also knew that Kitty’s professionalism would not allow her to berate him now. Instead, she turned to Narcissa, giving her a fresh once over.
“Would you like some tea, or coffee?”
Lucius waited for Narcissa to reply to the offer before gesturing towards his office, as good of a spot as any to begin the tour.
“Shall we?”
For the first time since they met, Narcissa felt herself brighten at the sight of Lucius Malfoy. She watched the interaction between him and his secretary, wondering just how professional their relationship was – not that it was any of her business. The woman’s question caught her off guard as her thoughts had travelled far. “Ah… Coffee. Please.”
She slipped past the desk and followed Lucius into his office. Only once the door closed did she speak, “Your secretary certainly is a force to be reckoned with. And I doubt I made a very good first impression.”

Litigation.
Narcissa felt like yelling ‘hooray’ when she finally found the department. Of course she had been to the firm before but all meetings were held in the boardroom, she never had a need to venture farther than that. Strangely she felt like a little girl in Disney World. The building was every lawyer’s dream with it’s pristine appearance and the inner-workings like a machine. Narcissa will adapt easily here.
After a few wrong turns and a lot of directions, she finally landed up at Lucius Malfoy’s office. His secretary, not dissimilar from Narcissa in appearance looked up at her, “Can I help.”
“I am here to see Mr. Malfoy.”
“Which one?”
Narcissa was confused for a moment before remembering Abraxas Malfoy was a shareholder as well, “Lucius.”
“When is your appointment?”
“Um... I don’t have one.”
The look on the woman’s face made Narcissa want to cringe back. “Mr. Malfoy is a very busy man. Nobody is allowed without appointment, especially not every second bimbo who take a liking to him.” The disapproval on her face was clear.
Narcissa blanched at the words, indignation clear in her reply, “He told me to pop in when I am here... I am here, therefore I am popping in. He is expecting me.”
The secretary spoke loudly, as if Narcissa was an invalid, telling her of professionality and what not. All the time she could feel eyes being directed towards her and decided that maybe it would be best just to leave a not for Lucius and only see him on Friday.

Dear Narcissa
Wonderful. I will make a suitable reservation. I cannot imagine that you will need for much other than your lovely self.
Perhaps you should consider a future career path as a professor of law. I imagine listening to your voice would do great things for class retention rates, and the students subsequent marks.
But it is not a no either. Have you handed in your notice to your boss yet? I imagine you are required to give four weeks. It would be wasteful to delay when you have a better offer.
Regards
Lucius
Dear Mr. Malfoy
What fun is there in teaching law and not executing it? But I thank you for the comment, at least I know what to fall back on if this path does not work out.
Notice? I haven’t even spoken to your firm yet. I will give notice in due time if I decide to take up the offer.
See you tomorrow at your office.
Kind Regards Narcissa

[Narcissa text]: I think you have the wrong number.
[Narcissa text]:But you definitely need a break.
[Narcissa text]: Are you okay at least? nothing broken?
[al; text]: look at it this way - it's been a long time
[al; text]: maybe she had something on her mind and didn't take a good look at you
[al; text]: don't think too much into it
[al; text]: how did it go after you told her?
[Narcissa text]: Well... She called me spineless.
[Narcissa text]: Then I lashed out at her.
[Narcissa text]: I might have called her a coward too.
