Narcissa lifted an eyebrow at his comment, “You are making assumptions now, Mr. Malfoy.” She sauntered over to the window, appreciating the view. “You have a lovely office, though I wouldn’t have expected anything else. Very… roomie.”
After giving the office an overlook, she directed her sight back at Lucius, “It went alright. More than alright, to be honest.” She cleared her throat awkwardly, hating to give Lucius Malfoy any reason to say I told you so. But the offer was just too good to decline. “I am handing over my letter of resignation today and will start on the 16th of May.” She wanted to drag it out, make him ask for every single detail but Narcissa was too excited. She needed to share it with somebody and Amycus was unavailable.
“Are they wrong?” he asked, brow quirking upwards along with the corners of his mouth as he flashed her a brief smile. Somewhat of a gambler, he was prepared to bet that he was correct. “If you find this impressive, you should wait until you see what the named partners call home.”
He did not say I told you so even if he might have thought it. Instead, he acted the appropriate level of pleasantly surprised by the news. “Well congratulations. Go on, then. What have they promised you?”
