Scoop || Taissa and Keaton
He was glad to hear he hadnât kept her waiting longer than ten minutes, knowing how irritating it could be at times when someone was supposed to show up and half an hour later they finally showed up, not even apologizing for the delay, like it was a normal occurrence and no big deal. It was only respectful to show up on time in his opinion, or offer an explanation if you had to delay. âOkay, good,â Keaton grinned, glancing up at the sky, his eyes squinting at the sun. It was definitely a good day to spend outside after all of the cold weather, weather that he was, quite frankly, getting tired of. He was from California, he was used to going out to the beach and cooling off. He didnât like having to sit under blankets or in front of heaters all day long unless it was fairly close to Christmas, in which case, it only felt right. It wasnât that he hated winter. He just wasnât used to it, and it would probably be quite awhile before it actually grew on him.
âI am very ready,â he laughed at her comment, a little doubtful that the ice cream there could be that good, but he was more than willing to give it a chance to blow his mind, as she had said. âWhoa, never eat ice cream from anywhere else? Thatâs kind of sad. What am I going to do if they shut down? Just go without ice cream for the rest of my life? I donât know about this.â Following her through the door, his eyes basically lit up at the selection of ice cream in front of him, realizing then how truly glad he was heâd decided to leave his flat. âCookies and cream,â he answered almost immediately, and realizing how eager he sounded, his words were followed with a laugh. âItâs my favorite. What about you? What do you usually get?â
Standing facing the counter filled with ice cream, Taissa realised how hungry she actually was. She hadnât had any breakfast, so she was effectively running on a mug of coffee and not much else. Her sister would have despaired if sheâd had any idea how poor Taiâs diet was, and her mamaâs reaction was one that didnât bear thinking about. As far as adult behaviour went, Tai hadnât quite mastered the sensible eating part just yet, and it didnât look like she would any time soon. At least not when there was ice cream this good so close to her house and so readily available. There was so much to choose from, she wasnât sure how she was supposed to make a decision. Had she been alone she might have gone a little crazy and pigged out, but she had company, so she had to keep up appearances for at least a little while.
âNope, never.â Taissa nodded as he questioned her. âI mean, if Ben and Jerrys were to open up a store that was closer to me than this one, maybe Iâd change my mind, because Baked Alaska trumps all, but until then this is the only place Iâll ever come.â She was too lazy to go all the way to the shop by the Tower of London for ice cream, so Scoop was what sheâd settled on, and it had always served her pretty well. âGood choice.â She nodded at him, before looking back over the selection again eventually settling on a flavour. âIâm gonna have to go with strawberry, itâs a classic, canât go wrong with that.â She said with a laugh, before stepping forward to place their order with the woman working behind the counter. Handing the ready cone to Keaton, she grinned. âDo you want to stay in here and eat, or should we go outside and make the most of this awesome weather?â She asked with a shrug. Nice weather didnât necessarily last in London, so she figured it was something that you had to make the most of while it was around.
