Do you have any favorite SessKag headcanon?
This is a very old ask lol, forgive me:
After Inu/kag break up but stay best friends, Kagome dates other boys. They're never quite right and she stops after a little while, deciding to focus on herself for now.
She learns a lot about priestess duties from Kaede, along with medical knowledge, herbs and such. She doesn't wear the miko garb.
During this time, when Sess visits the village, they have passing talks. It's when they come across each other in the forest while Kagome is practicing archery that they have their first proper conversation. Both are snarky, and curious about the others perceived oddities, yet not intrusive for information. They realise they don't actually mind each others company.
It takes several months of friendship that turns into mutual pining before anything happens between them. Sesshoumaru goes through the mental process of 'catching feelings' and assessing if pursing her is really the wisest decision. It's not. He does it anyway bc she's powerful, amiable and her presence has become quietly addicting.
Once they're together Kagome's boldness and bruised ego is nurtured. She becomes confident in the bedroom, something v appreciated by Sess.
Sesshoumaru plays the koto, something he learned from his mother. Its an indulgence he only partakes in at his home. Kagome loves to listen to him play.
Sesshoumaru and Shippo bond because of his involvement with Kagome. He teaches the fox different techniques with his energy. Later on it becomes fairly common to find Shippo resting somewhere in mokomokos fur. Kagome says nothing, but knows it must remind him of his own father's fur.
Likewise Rin and Kagome grow closer. They have a natural bond over both being Kaedeâs pupils and Kagome learns useful foraging techniques from Rin. Meanwhile Rin is taught how to read and write by Kagome.
Inukimi and Kagome get on splendidly bc they bond over teasing Sess.
Rin is not the first child Sesshoumaru has ever spoken to, as evidenced by his display of patience with her and the line 'you don't have to tell me if you don't want to' gave me vibes he's been around them before at the Western Lands. Not super close or anything but enough, possibly having passing interactions with servant's or noble's children. He's a good father once Sesskag have children.
Kagome gifts him with books from her time, which he always finds an engaging read.
Kagome often styles his hair at the start of the day or while he's doing paperwork, answering scrolls and such. It's not unusual for the demons at the Western Stronghold to witness their Lord walking around with a French plait, Dutch braid, waterfall braid or Viking mohawk braid.
When they have a hanyou child Sesshoumaru doesn't assess everything he's said or done to Inuyasha yet. His belief system has changed slightly to accept humans and hanyous that are deemed 'his.' His prideful mindset isn't fully shattered until his own kid experiences prejudice and Sess feels a gut punch of warring emotions, wanting to kill the person who slighted his own and yet recognising that the person very much resembled himself a few years ago. It's then that he approaches Inuyasha. He 'apologises' in his own way by acknowledging that he was wrong. Inuyasha gruffly accepts it but takes every opportunity to mess with him about having a hanyou kid.
Sesskag adopt a lot of kids.
