I think the reason why hoping is scary is because it presents the opportunity for disappointment. When we hope things will get better and they dont, we risk allowing ourselves to be hurt. But something I’ve come to believe as a serial bleeding-heart haver is that it is way more worth it to try and fail, to hope and be let down, than to give in to the laziness of nihilism
