The Same Voice? || Rei & Souji
jazzybloodsucker:
Rei was known in his high school to be what many would call a ‘brocon’. While most would try and deny this claim, Rei embraced it, flaunted it even, and everything that came with the notion. Why should he have to hide how much his little brother meant to him? In any case, it made him very familiar with sudden attacks, proclamations of love, and forced ‘attachment’ of another person.
He never thought, however, that he’d be on the other end of things.
Starting into a sudden rigidness, Rei stared to wide eyes to a girl he’d certainly never seen before. It didn’t really sink in for a moment, but even then, he was left a confused mess, glasses askew and hair pushed up.
“e-excuse me?”
Rei’s statement of obvious unfamiliarity caused Okita to let out an exaggerated pained noise that bordered between a gasp and a cough, releasing one arm from him to place a hand over her heart dramatically, as if his words physically hurt her. With that, many would expect her to realize her mistake and distance herself.
It didn’t. In fact, she was quite used to Kashuu pretending not to know her, and all his brutal rejections towards her displays of affection. So Rei indicating that he didn’t know her was not enough to convince her of any error... yet.
“You’re still treating me like a stranger...?” Okita looked into the distance with an expression of self-reflection on her face as she mused to herself. “Ahh, when did this baby brother of mine grow such a heart of stone? I suppose it was more of a mistake to go abroad than I initially thought... You must’ve been so lonely all those years, you poor thing.”
Okita then resumed hugging him, this time also using one arm to reach up and pat his head sympathetically.
“There, there, there... Hm?” It was then she finally got a better look at the young man trapped in her arms. He had a softer look to him, his face, though quite good-looking, had a bit of weariness to it, a far cry from the huffy diva pouts that Kashuu displayed often. There was also a distinct lack of a mole under his lip, and most of all, Kashuu never wore glasses.
This boy was not Kashuu Kiyomitsu.
Okita let out a shrill and lengthy shriek of surprise as she quickly released him, backing away in a panic. She ended up losing her footing as she backed away, and fell back, only for her fall to quickly form itself into a backwards somersault on the ground. She managed to roll herself towards one of the nearby trees, which she then promptly hid behind once she got back on her feet. She leaned to peer at Rei suspiciously from her ‘hiding’ place, pointing an accusatory finger at him.
“W-W-W-W-Who might you be?!” She tried to regain her composure from the mix of embarrassment and confusion she was experiencing, though was quickly failing. “Your voice kind of sounded the same and you looked similar from far away, but now that I get a closer look, it’s all wrong...! You have some nerve, fooling Okita-san like that!”
