Boob money is the worst, especially when you see them take it from there and immediately hand it to you
Me leaving for my week vacation like...
when their total comes to $5.01 and they give you $6.00
Boss:You shouldnāt be working around food or customers if youre sick. If you are sick your sick stay at home
Me:*calls in sick*
Boss:
The power went out as I was leaving work. We had been having tornado warnings all day and people were freaking out. I literally calmly left watching my coworkers trying to herd customers like cats. In my head I was like nope itās vacation time now. Bye.
This would be me.
Had a tonrnado last fall and this is what happen to me lool power went just after I punched out. I was like see ya suckers!
Never mistake my customer service for flirtation. Iām literally getting paid to talk to you and to help you find your items. Thatās it.
Otherwise Iād wouldnāt even be near you. Iād be homeā¦
When it rains, it pours.
So, at 5am the assistant manager walks in, hands in her shirts, nametag and keys and says, "I'm retiring." And walks out.
She is 18. 18 and retiring??? Wow.
Anyway, called the boss, he came in, offered me the assistant job, increased my hours again, offered me a raise regardless of me being assistant manager. I am now up to 55 hours a week, 12.50 per hour, and I keep my job.
More people need to quit.
I have never seen a customer as pissed as the one I tended to at self scan yesterday because I asked for her ID over alcohol.
Luckily I saw my supervisor as the customer was paying and gave her the heads up this lady was annoyed I carded her. And unlike a lot of other supervisors who donāt really care if we card or not, this one is actually happy when we card people. And what did this lady proceed to do but go to that supervisor and complain about me doing my job by carding her. -_-;
Me: -scans a thing-
Customer: Wait what did that ring up?
Me: $2...?
Customer: It's supposed to be on sale, I saw it in a bin for half off!
Me: -checks screen-
Me: It actually is on sale, it's half off $4.
Customer: No no no that's not right! $4 IS the sale price!
Me: No, $4 was the original price. Half off that is $2.
Customer: I'm telling you, I saw it in a bin for half off! It's supposed to be $4!
Me thinking: you're actually getting it for cheaper if you listen to me but you're really putting up a fight about making sure this thing is $4 even though it's cheaper so i guess if that's what you really want....
Me: Alright then, I'll adjust the price to $4.
Our store had the "wisdom" to install carousels rather than full lanes because they wanted to cut down on baggers. Except that now I have to both scan and bag everything, which slows down lines immensely, and we get yelled at because the lines are so long. It also doesn't help that they time our transactions. You can not ask/expect me to go faster!!! Either pack your own shit or shut the fuck up.
My old job was like that. Told us that we got paid āextraā to bag people grocery. So at the end of the day I just took my time. I was getting paid hourly lool. I would also usually bag at the end have them pay and sign off my machine. That way if they were counting item per hour or minute it would freeze the time.
I can deal with customers being rude but the worst thing is when a coworker is being rude or yells at me for no reason š we're on the same side chill out
I tend to remind them of that. That we are infact on the same side of things. If they arenāt my boss I let them know that they canāt treat me like that too. Also sometimes they might have a bad day but that doesnāt mean you got to be their punching bag!
At our store you have to be 18 or older to scan cigarettes and for some reason customers think that because they are adults, that THEY can scan them. NO IT DOES NOT WORK LIKE THAT. And theyāll just take the cigarettes and say āIāll just do itā and just scan them themselves, like NO, DONT DO THAT
The other night I was working a long shift and the entire time it was lovely. Not a lot of people, very little assholery, and we had enough cashiers and baggers. We had a bit of time to chat. When I got home that I realized that something like that would never happen again.
Niceeeee!
I work at a truck stop. We had someone scream at our 18 year old cashier because he was too young to ring up beer. In order to reach the register he was working on, they had to have walked past or deliberately avoided the registers with employees old enough to sell age restricted items. There's a reason we had him on the registers primarily used for commercial fuel transactions and driver showers.
Why canāt people say oh sorry I made mistake instead of yelling trying to get thier way! Itās not going to make a difference. Heās still going to be to young to sell you stuff itās the law.
Dumb-ass lady doesn't like service dogs
A few years ago when i used to work in retail, i was working a shift when a guy with a service dog of some form (it had the orange vest and harness and everthing). The man ends up going to the till behind me and is getting his groceries rang through while his dog sits at his feet behaving perfectly. As soon as he goes to the till, a lady starts unloading her stuff at mine.
Me: Hi how ar-
Her: there's a dog in the store
Me: yeah, its a service dog
Her: it was sniffing the meat, i saw it
Me: ...its a service dog
Her: well, i dont like it in the store
Like???? Its a service dog, it has a job to do for its owner?? Theyre allowed in stores for a reason??? Im honestly more happy to see the dog than your stupid ass šš
In the store I work at, we dont have public washrooms. So if someone needs to use the washroom, we let them use the ones in our backroom. Since we dont have security cameras in our backroom, an employee needs to stay in the backroom until the customer is finished using the washroom. That being said, the customer needs to ask an employee for the washroom.
I used to have the customer come in every now and again, and EVERY see came in she needed to use the washroom. That's no problem... until she just decided to go back there on her own. The backroom doors literally say "employees only", why do you think you can just go back there.
The only reason I found out was because when I was cleaning, a man, whom I assumed was her husband, came up to me and told me, that she went into the back to use the washrooms.
Me: "Oh, you have to ask an employee first."
Customer: "well it's too late now Haha"
So I book it into the backroom, and I waited for her to come out of the washroom. When she exited the washroom, I started to explain to her, that she needs to ask an employee first before she comes back here. And she started getting mad at me like "well I really needed to go."
Me: "ma'am you're not allowed back here, its employees only, it's for security reason."
Her:"well there was no one around and I couldnt wait."
Me: "ma'am please just let someone know next time."
Her: "I think you need to invest in public washrooms."
Who thinks they're so entitled that they think they can just by pass the rules. I was literally right around the corner, she could've just said "hey I need to use the washroom", and I would'nt have had a problem with it. Jeez, some people.
