Something slithers in the dark, a certain dexterity of it to avoid creaky floorboards, as if it's been here the longest.
One of the longest remade creatures, Tail has 20 pairs of limbs, a symmetrical body devoid of injury, devoid of struggle.
It has a forward facing head, with two defensive horns on either side of its flat head, not unlike a hammerhead shark.
Sam I am sorry for your terrible fate I hope that you are still alive in there and if you are thank you for watering our garden though you never got to harvest the fruit of our labors I fear that you are my friend no longer so I am sorry for what I must do (Hellen pulls out her shears and prepares to attack)
Tail steels itself at the name. It was taken from it, after all. Does that mean it's no longer its?
Truly, a confusing conundrum.
Words evade Tail as Hellen continued her ramble. It feels sorrow in its heart as she mourns the loss of a friend who will never come back.
And yet, the shine of the blades, all too familiar to their combat. Hellen is...betraying it?
Tail curls in on itself slightly, unsure of how to act. It didn't even know how to attack in this form. Words refuse to form as time refuses to pause.
"Oh my-my-my..." That voice resonated from somewhere unseen. A slinking form slithering forth from behind the blood-caked kitchen counter. Long winding neck craning itself to leer at the far larger Unraveled. "Oh dear...You're...Hsss...A B-big one! That's...Five? Eight? Ten?" The creature mused as it struggled to count the sheer amount of appendages the other remade sported. "I...Ffff...Feel sorry for you, Really." It resumed that upbeat demeanor. Twisting like a Corkscrew to extend a single clawed limb towards Tail. "The name's R-Ribsss! My friendss call me that. Eheeh..." (THIS is the Canon Ask)
"Ribs." It tested. Like Spine, it assumed. Maybe that's just how names worked for the Remade.
Tail looked at the claws, as if foreign, even though it recognized it, somehow.
"Tail." It spoke, reminding itself how that all worked. Tail took a breath and thought for a minute, taking a lay on all its legs in the meantime.
"Forty." Tail spoke from the only knowledge it was gifted with upon entering this world.
"I met Spine, too. Are there more?" Tail questioned, even though it took it a small moment to find the words.
"Tail? Funny name..." It mused. "...Then again...Mine's Ribs. I don't have much room to Judge...Eheeh..." It continued. The smaller of the two seemed morbidly mystified with the other. Looking over each limb, Just how long they were. It was like the living equivalent of a game of snake. Something that just went on, and on, and on... "There'sss...Another. A kind soul. I their name wass...Fang? Yess..Fang. We're all friends here." They took note of Spine's name being mentioned. Hopefully that meant they wouldn't need to explain the unfortunate Hell the other might've found themselves in. "Well, Tail. It'sss...Nice to meet you. I figure Spine told you about me?" They inquired. Claws audibly tapping against whatever hardwood flooring was exposed.
"Spine...No, no." Tail glances in the room they reside in.
"I thought me and her were the only ones." It's bad grammer, but absolutely who cares.
"Can we meet Fang?" Tail feels the need to elaborate, possibly due to its inexplicable anxiety.
"I should probably meet my neighbours." Tail
attampts to ease nonexistant tension with a chuckle, but it's a raspy breath instead.
"I'd say yesss...However..." It craned their neck around for a moment.
"...No idea where they are, though. Haven't seen them in...Hsss...A while. Probably just off doing...Sssomething." It mused silently. Turning their attention back towards Tail. "There's...Two others...Hssk...One of them has many eyes. Ssspine called them Confusion. The other one has a split head like mine...Stay away from those two." They paused. Thumbing through their internal rolodex of synonyms and descriptors. "...They're not terribly polite..."
"So some are..." Tail searched for words. "Aggressive?"
It sniffed Ribs idly, having not thought to before. It's good to have a scent, to sense before they're to close.
"Will I know Fang when I see them?"
"...Not...Aggressive...Just not very friendly!" The Unraveled explained. Trying to use the most "Polite" terminology that they could put together. "Oh, Fang? You'll know them the moment you...Hsssk...Sssee them! They're real big...Not as big as you of course, But far larger than Me or Spine..." They paused for a moment, Locked in thought. "...O-oh! And they have a strange head too. Kind a like...A dog's!" Balancing on its rear five-arms they folded their primary set of arms in a somewhat "Proud" posture. "They might be a little...Shy when you first meet them. Everyone's ssskittish after the...Unraveling. But they should be nice enough!"
"Unraveling." Tail tested, intrested in the terminology.
"Why do you call it that?" It asked, suddenly inquisitive.
"The word remade came to me, at first."
"Well.." Ribs paused. Thinking for a moment. "...I know...Hsss...That I had skin. A face. The usual "Person" package...And now? Well..." They vaguely motion to themselves with a free claw. "No sssskin. No face. No legsss either..." They added. "...I've been taken apart and Put back together." It stated bluntly. "Same way...Hsssk...You have. Unless you're just all odds-and-ends."
Tail mulled the idea around in its head like something thick to chew on.
"It's ‘remade’ to me because... Because I'm nothing like before." It settled on, content with the wording.
"Physical and Mentally. I've been wholly remade."
"...Entirely?" Ribs mused. "No..Memory. No identity...Nothing?" The thought seemed to rattle them somewhat...Deprecated state. They still had a few things intact from their former existence. A few things had survived the maiming. But the idea of being utterly blank? It gnawed at them like a daunting inevitability. "...Hssss...I sssuppose...It's not that terrible. Nothing to miss! Eheeh..."
"I remember.. when I was being remade. A little."
Tail breathed, looking further for words for its explanation.
"But no identity, or memory. Just the feeling of loneliness and longing I had before this." It gestured to itself.
"I don't feel like that anymore, so it had to be longing for this form. This life."
It added one more thing, quietly, as if unsure. "I came up with the name Tail when I met Spine."
It looked up at Ribs for a moment.
"Did the others just have their names when they were.. unravelled?"
"That I..." They paused. Looking aside. "...Don't know." "Spine gave me my name. When I found her...Hsss...When I had been "Remade" I couldn't remember my name...A-and I still don't! But she looked at me and just thought that "Ribs" fit! I sssuppose it makes sense..." Ribs' free hand reached down. Idly picking at that drooling maw that comprised most of their underside. "I think it'sss...Instinctual? What part of you is mossst prominent. Spine has her...Weell...Spine. I have my Ribs. Fang has theirrr...Fangs I figure. And you're tail because you're...Well..." They craned their neck to peer at the other. "...You're long."
Tail chortled, though it couldn't have sounded right. "And all wiggly."
Idly, it traced the tile with one of its claws.
"I can't imagine not being..." Tail paused to search for a word.
"Flexible."
As it lied in its particularly comofrtable position, coiled amongst itself, claws leaned on by muscle and tens of much-too-big joints resting, it thought.
God, Tail couldn't not think. It sometimes wondered if that part was normal for it, or if it were apart of the remaking.
Sometimes, it was better not to wonder.
Once more, Tails looked to Ribs for answers. "Are the other two.. made of odds and ends?"
Tails found words easier when another had just said them; it didn't have to find them.
"Y-your name should be Legs instead." Ribs responded matter-of-factly to the creature's statement. Continuing to idly look over Tail as they contorted themselves into a more comfortable position. "...Nnnoo. They're...They WERE people." Ribs responded. "Ssspine was a lady...I think. Not sssure what..Hssk..Fang was." It continued. Scratching the side of their skull as they sorted through their thoughts. "...I only...Sssaid that because you're the biggest of us. I mean Fang is Pretty big but..You're easily twice! Thr-thrice my size!" They continued. "It'd make sssense if you were mad out of a...Buncha' people. Like a whole Crowd or somethin' like that...Eheeh..." "I kinda miss walkin'." Ribs interjected randomly. "Legs N'all that. It sssucks having to scuttle around like a Centipede.."
"We were people." Tail tried to make it seem like a... question? Correcting statement? A presented fact? It was hard to tell.
"I'm a little....shorter." Tail stated, as if weren't obvious.
"A lot longer. It gets in the way." But then again, what was a body for if not getting in the way of things? (Reasoning to keep the delusion going. This was better.)
"...Ssshorter?" They pondered. Talon lifting to one of those drooling fangs curiously. "...Wait..Lemme-" Their long neck twists around. Looking over their own body...Then back to tail. Then back to themselves. "...No, You're longer." It states confidently. "..Hsss...Anywhhooo....I sssuppose we're all "Odds and Ends" in the end." It explained. "I Know I didn't have seven armsss...These belonged to other people." It was still something that perturbed Ribs slightly. The thought that these...Limbs. Appendages which they used daily and regularly. Were once attached to others. Did these hands type? Sculpt clay? Play a guitar or tune a Piano? It felt foreign yet familiar in a horrid way. "We're all...Collaborations in our own...Unique ways. Even if means losing partsss of ourselvesss...Our memories. Our...Iden-t-ities."
"Collaborations..." Tail tested, intruiged by the wording. It thought about it, about what Ribs could've meant, then chuckled in that gravelly way.
"You could say we're....artwork?" Tail spoke with amusement, slight jest because it knew Ribs didn't see it that way.
What did Ribs mean about identities, though? What did Spine say about it? The same, but not? Too much unlike her old self to be considered it, but unwilling to part from it?
What a horrid state of existence the others must have lived in, to be consrantly missing their human life. Tail knew the truth, though.
They paused. Thinking about it for a moment. "...I Ssssuppose...Even if I don't feel like Artwork." They reluctantly responded. "Taken apart. Pieced back together into...Hsss...Offal and Carrion. This is no way to live." Ribs responded bluntly. Tainted somewhat by a somber tone. "...Still..Hsssk...You know what th-they say! No use crying over spilled milk.." It quickly added. "You get used to it. Everyone does." They twisted around. Mangled form beginning to slither and slink away from their much larger counterpart. "I sleep in the...Hsss...Kitchen, If you ever need me."
"Kitchen.. Okay." Tail provided a following gaze.
Where could it sleep that was out of the way? It didn't want to disturb the people who lived in the apartment.
Maybe it could lie here, though. Maybe it didn't need to relocate. Tail quite liked that idea.

Idly, it traced the tile with one of its claws.

As it lied in its particularly comofrtable position, coiled amongst itself, claws leaned on by muscle and tens of much-too-big joints resting, it thought.
God, Tail couldn't not think. It sometimes wondered if that part was normal for it, or if it were apart of the remaking.

"Ribs... told me about you." Words hadn't stopped being hard for it, though it got easier. Better.
“Tail. Hi, Tail.” He curls up on the floor with a slight thump. “They did? That’s.. That’s nice. I, ahm.. There isn’t much to say about me, I assume, but yes.. That’s me.”
“Do you remember anything?” His tone is curious, inquisitive, but not prying. If the new one didn’t want to share he wouldn’t make them. His chin lays down on his claws, making him look similar to a big dog.
Tail shakes its head, which seems more of a wiggle than anything else.
"Not before being remade." Tail sighs happily, which comes out as somewhat of a gurgle.
"Do you?"
“Mhm. I remember a lot. Even if it’s a bit.. egh… upsetting to remember.” He nips at his claws a little, which sharp teeth shorten by carving off little bits of them. They then itch at the floor when they’re blunt enough to not leave marks.
Tail hums with acknowledgement, though it comes off as a sort of grumble instead. It's sure the message got across, though.
"I've heard that others remembered, too. I wonder if I will."
Tail curls amongst itself to lie in a coil, as to take up less room.
As it speaks, it takes long pauses between sentences to come up with more words.
"I can't imagine they'd be pleasent, though. From what I can remember from being remade... It's worse."

“Do you remember anything?” His tone is curious, inquisitive, but not prying. If the new one didn’t want to share he wouldn’t make them. His chin lays down on his claws, making him look similar to a big dog.
Tail shakes its head, which seems more of a wiggle than anything else.
"Not before being remade." Tail sighs happily, which comes out as somewhat of a gurgle.
"Do you?"
“Mhm. I remember a lot. Even if it’s a bit.. egh… upsetting to remember.” He nips at his claws a little, which sharp teeth shorten by carving off little bits of them. They then itch at the floor when they’re blunt enough to not leave marks.
Tail hums with acknowledgement, though it comes off as a sort of grumble instead. It's sure the message got across, though.
"I've heard that others remembered, too. I wonder if I will."
Tail curls amongst itself to lie in a coil, as to take up less room.
As it speaks, it takes long pauses between sentences to come up with more words.
"I can't imagine they'd be pleasent, though. From what I can remember from being remade... It's worse."
“..H-Hello?” A voice. Timid, yet familiar. A heavy body shifts carefully over to Tail with many eyes softened with gentle, hesitant care. Large hands pull its too hefty body across the floor towards the other unraveled before halting when it thinks its in view.
“…Hi. You’re, uhm.. New. My name is Fang. Do you have a name yet?”
Tail pauses, tilts its head, then sniffs the newcomer. Fang. Male. It registers what it can.
"Tail." It confirms, curling around itself to give Fang room to breathe. It has no issue lying in coils, so it does so.
"Ribs... told me about you." Words hadn't stopped being hard for it, though it got easier. Better.
“Tail. Hi, Tail.” He curls up on the floor with a slight thump. “They did? That’s.. That’s nice. I, ahm.. There isn’t much to say about me, I assume, but yes.. That’s me.”

"Oh my-my-my..." That voice resonated from somewhere unseen. A slinking form slithering forth from behind the blood-caked kitchen counter. Long winding neck craning itself to leer at the far larger Unraveled. "Oh dear...You're...Hsss...A B-big one! That's...Five? Eight? Ten?" The creature mused as it struggled to count the sheer amount of appendages the other remade sported. "I...Ffff...Feel sorry for you, Really." It resumed that upbeat demeanor. Twisting like a Corkscrew to extend a single clawed limb towards Tail. "The name's R-Ribsss! My friendss call me that. Eheeh..." (THIS is the Canon Ask)
"Ribs." It tested. Like Spine, it assumed. Maybe that's just how names worked for the Remade.
Tail looked at the claws, as if foreign, even though it recognized it, somehow.
"Tail." It spoke, reminding itself how that all worked. Tail took a breath and thought for a minute, taking a lay on all its legs in the meantime.
"Forty." Tail spoke from the only knowledge it was gifted with upon entering this world.
"I met Spine, too. Are there more?" Tail questioned, even though it took it a small moment to find the words.
"Tail? Funny name..." It mused. "...Then again...Mine's Ribs. I don't have much room to Judge...Eheeh..." It continued. The smaller of the two seemed morbidly mystified with the other. Looking over each limb, Just how long they were. It was like the living equivalent of a game of snake. Something that just went on, and on, and on... "There'sss...Another. A kind soul. I their name wass...Fang? Yess..Fang. We're all friends here." They took note of Spine's name being mentioned. Hopefully that meant they wouldn't need to explain the unfortunate Hell the other might've found themselves in. "Well, Tail. It'sss...Nice to meet you. I figure Spine told you about me?" They inquired. Claws audibly tapping against whatever hardwood flooring was exposed.
"Spine...No, no." Tail glances in the room they reside in.
"I thought me and her were the only ones." It's bad grammer, but absolutely who cares.
"Can we meet Fang?" Tail feels the need to elaborate, possibly due to its inexplicable anxiety.
"I should probably meet my neighbours." Tail
attampts to ease nonexistant tension with a chuckle, but it's a raspy breath instead.
"I'd say yesss...However..." It craned their neck around for a moment.
"...No idea where they are, though. Haven't seen them in...Hsss...A while. Probably just off doing...Sssomething." It mused silently. Turning their attention back towards Tail. "There's...Two others...Hssk...One of them has many eyes. Ssspine called them Confusion. The other one has a split head like mine...Stay away from those two." They paused. Thumbing through their internal rolodex of synonyms and descriptors. "...They're not terribly polite..."
"So some are..." Tail searched for words. "Aggressive?"
