It's you, despite everything it's still you
Here is a short story of some lore as I also try to get myself back into writing fics and an excuse to share more about my ocs cuz it's more fun building characters this way :3 pls enjoy
A dark spacious room that was silent. The only visible object in the room was a large intricate gold ornate mirror that seemed to emit a faint glow. The sound of a few birds chirping away together broke the silence though no birds could be seen. Wandering closer to the mirror, Lizette was taking cautious steps that softly echoed in the space, but she was no stranger to bazaar dreams or flashes of the past. She wasn’t sure what she’d see when looking into it, but surely what did show up was the last thing she was expecting. It was like a pin dropped in the room as it was like the sounds of the birds drowned out in the shock; mentally registering what was even going on. Her baby blue eyes widening when meeting the different appearance of an ethereally dressed taller woman with fox ears.
From the most part Lizette could tell she was at most a fox beastman from the ears and long tail that matched the woman’s long desaturated blue colored hair “How peculiar….” The unknown individual spoke, a feminine and silvery tone of voice. “You’re not what I expected, but I guess even souls cut from the same cloth wouldn’t come out looking exactly the same,” the woman spoke tilting her head to the side looking down in curiosity.
It was like everything froze after hearing the words she spoke. Blinking while holding onto the framework as this was information that she at the moment was not understanding. Soon shaking her head to pull herself together. “W-wait I’m sorry, what did you say? I-I don’t know if I’ve heard you correctly,” Lizette asked for her to repeat herself as this was definitely a new one for her; which the reaction made the woman on the other side of the mirror giggle.
“Well I would say in simple terms that I’m you; however that is not the case as we may share similarities,” the woman spoke leaning to lean on the base of the frame, her chin resting in her palm to be at eye level with Lizette. “But in the face of the universe you and I are completely different beings simply made with… souls that have been intertwined in such a unique connection.”
The atmosphere had gotten heavy from such a conversation taking place as she let things sink in while trying to process the new found information. “I think we’ve skipped over some details… who are you anyway,” Lizette asked as she never even thought of a thing being possible. “Wouldn’t it be a problem if we’re both present in the same universe, where even are you,” Lizette added, as wouldn’t this be the same type of scenario as being in the same place as a past or future self?
The woman giggled more as her tail swishing side to side entertained by the human before her. “My name is Elspeth Lunarcrowth… as I’m not entirely sure though since it was the mirror that beckoned you to my world Lizette Luna; I’m positive he knows what he’s doing,” Elspeth spoke shifting to stand letting a bird perch on her shoulder. “As for where I am, not even I know… I walk this realm of dreams for who knows how long since my death,” she spoke in a contemplating manner which caused a gasp in shock from Lizette when learning such a thing. “Though I’m not exactly dead… I still feel the beat of my heart, longing to return to my body. Dreams are timeless as I’ve forgotten in time, though if I was to estimate it I’d have to speculate that I’ve been gone for thousands of years,” Elspeth’s ears went back as she tried recalling memories unaware of how much time has passed since she first started roaming the dream realm.
Soon her ears twitched and glanced around with icy green eyes as if sensing the shift in the space. “It seems you’ll be waking soon. As us meeting very well be a telling sign of winds of change could be on the horizon,” Elspeth spoke, the bird perched on her shoulder chirping, stretching out its wings before taking off but flying through coming outside to Lizette’s side of the mirror flying off into the darkness of the space singing a song the bird becoming a small light soon to no longer be seen.
“Oh one more thing.. a favor of sorts if you could,” Elspeth suddenly spoke out as Lizette looked back from having followed where the bird had flown off to. “If you ever encounter a loud boorish young man with messy green hair could you keep an eye on him please. He has a tendency to be snappy, but he is quite a darling boy…. I wonder how old he is now,” Elspeth’s words seemed to grow disembodied in the change of Lizette’s consciousness state and the dream distorting the painting changing to just a mural of a beautiful forest open space with flowers, vines, and thorns before even that dissipated to nothingness.
Eyes shooting open she let out a gasp as moving to sit up to check her surroundings. Seeing the familiarity of her dorm room within Heartslabyul. She touched her chest as if checking on herself before quickly throwing back her blankets that covered her body and jumping out of bed to check her reflection. Doing a little hop over her familiar Rufus to avoid tripping over him as she got to her vanity and looked right into it. Looking back as baby blue eyes looking back at herself, her long curly pastel blue hair having a serious case of bed head. Touching her own face and inspecting herself before breathing, taking a seat on the stool before the vanity and glancing down at her hands recalling her dream events as thoughts and theories swirling in her head as curious and daunting of such an occurrence.
Jumping at the sound of banging at her door followed by persis and loud voice. “Lizzy?? Lizzy do not make me come in there, you’re late for breakfast,” the sound of Riddle’s voice from the other side of the door as she tensed up as she seemed to have slept through her alarms. “Shit,” she shouted out as of course one of the rules that one must not be tardy to the morning meals.
“Watch your mouth!”
“Sorry! I’ll be out shortly,” she called out as she now had to rush around making a scramble to get ready for the day while the Rottweiler was now awake and stretching out standing up on its four paws watching his human rush. Upon doing a shortened version of her routine and grabbing her things before unlocking and flinging the door open putting on a smile.
“Good morning Riddle! I promise to bake you an extra special strawberry tart later,” she said, already offering to bribe forgiveness to quell the housewarden’s lectures about not following the rules. Him seeming to breathe as to cover the relief of seeming to worry of the female’s lack of response to his knocking earlier. Of course the mention of a strawberry tart halted him from spewing the words he had already had prepared in his mind about sleeping in and being the last one to show up for breakfast. Clearing his throat he turned to walk. “Fine, I expect it to be presented to me at five o’clock sharp,” he said of course, rather quickly caving to such a temptation. Lizette breathing and smiling as she locked up her door and quick to follow, relieved she dodged a bullet with that one; finishing getting ready on the go.
“Hey by the way how long were you knocking at my door,” Lizette asked walking beside him through the halls, summoning forget me not flowers and with intent weaving them in her hair.
“Five minutes to be exact.”
“Huh, my alarms were on when I went to bed last night… I guess I might have overdone it a bit yesterday,” she said laughing it off as she was quite busy yesterday: she had her mentoring with Vil, she did her homework along with some studying, and had to plan her TA lecture she was giving in summoning classes that were for today. Though maybe that dream kept her asleep for that time on purpose.
Riddle shook his head and let out a sigh as she was certainly an unpredictable one. “Sometimes I forget how serious you tend to get when it comes to work matters with how carefree and mischievous you tend to be. Seriously I question who’s worse sometimes: You or Azul,” Riddle said, making a bit of a complaint as she smiled and laughed in response. She was going to go forth with her day, but in the back of her mind she’d have to make time later to try and dig around for any information in regards to Elspeth Lunarcrowth and what happened to her…. And why did the description of the guy sound so oddly familiar to her? Weird, but surely it’ll make sense later when she encounters him or if she ever would.
