—- In Layman’s terms (I couldn’t have said it simpler) This for all those who still believe Black hair is “just hair,” and don’t understand why it isn’t and label Black women as being “reverse racists” and unfair. Feel free to add on concurring remarks and evidence because I feel people will still read this and not understand/agree.

I JUST uploaded a video discussing this exact topic. Needless to say, those defending white women/people couldn’t do so without mentioning how black women relax, straighten, and add extensions to their hair to look like white women - as if straight hair is specific to white people or conforming to societal pressures is the same as cultural appropriation. What’s sad is most of these women were black AND natural. It was disheartening to see so many socially unintelligent people defend those who not only mock but profit from the exploitation of their culture.

Instagram is never short of little hidden gems, so I’m glad I stumbled across this big one at the kickoff of fashion week. I’m obsessed with the color, contrast, && styling of OMONDI’s f/w ‘15 collection. Everything is clean, minimal, yet subtly bold…everything I love. What’s even better is the gorgeous array of these beautiful black women, something that is rarely seen in the fashion industry. This was definitely a moment.
