this blog will act as a teaser / talk blog for an upcoming appless original character celebrity group focused on muses twenty-one and over, living in the gated community, golden oaks. the community promises security, while a hacker threatens to expose them. through plot drops, events, optional tasks, and more, the group will progress and flourish.
while i was anticipating finishing everything and dropping the main tomorrow, it just doesn't seem feasible at this point in time. there's a lot that's going into this group behind the scenes and between the loss of my family member and also still having to work full time, i just haven't been able to focus on or tie everything together just yet.
we'll be stepping back from the tags, but will continue working on the main throughout my days off today and tomorrow. i've been so enchanted by everyone's excitement about the group, and i promise it's not being abandoned. it's just taking a little longer than expected to connect and finish everything.
with that said, we are still looking for another admin. possibly even two more, to have a solid team of four. you can find the admin application form here and send it to the talkoaks im's.

with my personal life throwing me a curveball this week, i haven't been able to fully dedicate the time to get everything in order. however, i brought on another admin and we'll begin working together to finish up pages and details, which, on that note, there is still a spot open for a third admin, so please reach out for more info. as far as dropping this weekend . . . i'm not saying definitively no, but it's more likely that we will drop on monday.
i think you should rethink the rule you’ve made about trans characters. there aren’t nearly enough resources of trans actors and this is coming from a trans person! imagine i want to play someone agender but since there are only a handful of agender actors (and even less that have a surplus of quality resources) i’d be out of luck! at least let cis men fcs portray trans men and cis women portray trans women.
i'll definitely take this into consideration, as i know there is an unfortunate lack of resources for trans fcs. with that said, though, if it does come to the point where we just aren't seeing any trans fcs used for trans muses, then we'll reevaluate and restructure our rules. being trans myself, i really just want to ensure that we're being correctly represented, written, and portrayed.
pls change the diversity guidelines that the second muse must be poc bc people just get away with only playing white muses when the second can be gender diverse
thank you for reaching out and saying this, because this is originally what i planned, and then i changed it last minute. the guidelines have been updated to reflect this. if your first muse is white, the second must be a muse of color, and if the first two aren't black or indigenous, the third must be.
taken directly from our updated rules page, "though we do not have a rule currently in place, we will push for diversity in regards to gender, body diversity, as well as for muses with disabilities. after careful consideration and feedback, i decided not to implement an enforcement, as my general consensus is that there will be some people who will solely play white muses if given the opportunity to do so. with that being said, if we see a lack in gender diverse, body diverse, and muses with disabilities, we will reevaluate and restructure our diversity rule."

we absolutely will be having guidelines regarding diversity. as i've written it currently, we will operate on the fact that if your first muse is cis and white, your second must be gender diverse / not cis and / or a muse of color. if you pick up a third and final muse, and neither of your first two are black or indigenous, your third one must be.
please note that all trans muses must use a trans faceclaim that correctly matches the identity you're wishing to portray. this means under no circumstances will we allow cis faceclaims for trans muses.

hey, all ! giving a quick update on the main, as well as addressing some messages in the inbox. my family experienced a loss yesterday and i haven't been able to get on to answer questions or do much of anything regarding the main. i'm not abandoning the group in any sense, and i'll be back online tonight to work on some catchup. i'll also be working on reaching out to and adding to the admin team tonight, so we can really work on getting things up and running -- hopefully for the weekend ! with all that being said, thank you all for your patience. i promise we'll be dropping so soon !

i'll be working on the guidelines page tonight, and i'd love to hear some feedback on what people consider to be crucial when joining a group and looking over guidelines. i've got some basics down, but i definitely want this to be a strong, long - lasting group, so any input would help tremendously !
the age range for muses will be between 21 - 55. however, romantic plots of any nature will be limited to five years, in hopes that this will eliminate any unfavorable dynamics.
not quite yet, so if you'd like to be an admin, there's still time to send in an admin application via im's. i apologize, as well, for the delay in deciding, but i'm hoping to make a decision by the end of tomorrow at the very latest !

what's the housing situation like in golden oaks? will there be limited spots like ## five bdrm homes, ## four bdrm homes, etc? or are we free to decide?
it will be up to the members to decide, but we'll give an approximate average or range of the types of houses. there will likely only be a limited amount of spots for mega - mansions of sorts, so more than likely only 3 or 4 of those maximum. the only limited spots will be the roles or careers of each muse, so we have a diverse range of careers and not a primary of one.
apologies in advance for how long this is potentially going to get, but i just have lots of thoughts and ideas ! also, i'm running on only a few hours of sleep, so if some things don't make the most sense, please don't hesitate to ask for clarification. anyway, let's get started !
golden oaks is a fictional gated community in sunny los angeles, with the community really sort of tucked away from prying eyes. one of the biggest sellers for the community is its high security and privacy. also, without giving too much away, there is quite a bit to do within the community. i'm not saying there's a million restaurants and theaters and all that jazz, but there's definitely plenty to do without having to leave the privacy of the community. each staff member working for golden oaks has to sign a nondisclosure agreement ( nda ) as part of their initial paperwork, have a special clearance, and partake in a bunch of training. while staff members won't be played immediately, maybe down the line we can consider making them playable. i think it could be really exciting for members to be able to write out interactions between staff members and community residents, and it adds a little more depth to the group and muses.
for now, there's some npcs that i'd like to mention and dive into a bit. for starters, the community was founded by two famous siblings, names to be revealed at a later date. the brother and oldest sibling, was a retired football quarterback for the nfl, who later went on to flourish with his acting career in film and some television guest spots. he recently passed in april of last year at the age of 91. the younger sibling started out with a career in modeling, but became widely known for their fashion line. they passed more than four years ago at the age of 80. the two shared a manor, which sits as the furthest house from the entrance to the community, and called it the golden throne. the siblings were regarded as being the most genuine and kind people on the planet, and the golden throne manor now acts as a museum and event space for the residents of golden oaks.
another memorable npc includes the community director and manager, joaquin hoyos, who was directly hired by the siblings to run golden oaks when it opened in 2002. he is often regarded as being brilliant, sensible, driven and dedicated, benevolent, personable, and sometimes stern where needed. if there's ever an issue on the property, he's most resident's first call. his son, lucas hoyos, lives with him on property, though he's primarily regarded as reckless and irresponsible and detrimental to the privacy and wellness of the community. note that most residents will more than likely blame him for the hackings. there are definitely more npcs, but those will likely be revealed later, primarily in plot drops and events and community announcements. though, i'm thinking we'll have a page on the main with all the npc info.
i'm not going to disclose much about zer0revea1s, but i will give some sort of scoop on them. while most people think zer0revea1s is working alone, they actually have a decent team aiding them in revealing the secrets of the residents of golden oaks. whether that team is working from the inside, too, that's something we'll have to discover as time progresses . . .
