b gat r se you?
Well. It's already inside, and I don't feel like going out again. So, yes.
Great. See you. Don't get pancaked on the road.
[About ten minutes later, his door is knocked on once. Then twice. Then about forty times in quick succession.]
[ There's a rush of footsteps that approach the door with urgency, and with an aggressive tug it is almost pulled open, fully if it was not still held closed with its chain lock.
The person behind it curses, though obviously muffled. Before the guard is undone and they succeed in pulling it open, gentler, this time..And only opened enough for his upper body to be visible. ]
" . . . . . Hi. There. "
"You suck at opening doors."
[The man grins, giggling a little to pixelself. It wears a green hoodie and black trousers, glasses wet from the short period of rain. Pixel seems to pay no mind to it.]
[ He narrows his eyes at it, but doesn't argue back. Instead, backing away from the door to open it fully. ]
" You act exactly how I expected you to. Do you- uh. "
[ He looks behind him, still holding the edge of the door, which waves around with him, and then back at Lukas. ]
" You wanted to come inside, right? "
[Pixel doesn’t reply, instead striding right into his apartment as if he owned the place.]
"You don’t have much decor.."
[It turns to look at him again, its grin had never faded.]
"This is how I expected it to look."
[ Bennett moves out of pixels way with little resistance, only occasionally muttering to himself about; " Oh, just letting yourself in. Yup. Yup. Great. " as it enters.
He shuffles awkwardly against the wall, leaning back to rest against it with his arms crossed, which fails to make him look cool or comfortable. ]
" I don't need any. The only function of a home is to, like, shelter you. So you can eat and clean yourself and all. "
[ He pauses talking to punctuate his apathy with a shrug. ]
" Don't see a point in complicating that. "
"Boring."
[It picks up one of the many bacon fans, sets it off, then sets it down.]
"But very Bennett."
[Pixel stares at his awkward stance, seemingly fully comfortable.]
[ He snorts, looking off to the floor. ]
" I'll take that as a compliment, or, uh. Any sort of positive. Good to..um. "
[ He trails off into full-silence. Before pushing off the wall and walking off. ]
" Okay. Wasting time. I'll get you the package. "
"You do that, pretty boy."
[Lukas continues to walk around the apartment, touching things, probably stealing them too.]
"How important is your credit card to you?"
[ Bennett seems a little more than confused. Probably still stuck registering that first part before being hit with a random, meaningless, likely pointless question. (And maybe the theft is part of it, but who really cares.) So he just, sort of, stands there, stopped in his tracks. ]
" . . What??? Huh? "
"How important is your credit card to you? Have you never been complimented before or what?"
[Pixel laughs a little.]
"Probably not. That’s okay, though."
" I have. I, just- y'know. Don't get called that everyday. Very? "
[ He slips off into one of the few rooms littering his apartment, closing the door behind him. Relatively quickly returning with the package in hand, and despite this, he is not over the conversation, with the first thing out of his mouth being; ]
" Incredibly? So, don't do anything freaky with it? "
[Pixel looks at him with a mocking annoyance.]
"Don’t make it weird, Bennett."
[He grabs the parcel carelessly.]
"Have you considered being a mailman yet? You could wear those little hats."
[ He looks at him back with real annoyance, and probably a little bit of confusion. But that's not anything new. He gets over it, though, surprisingly quickly. ]
" No, I have not. I don't think that would work, anyways. My schedule being what it is. Are you going to leave now? "
"Are you kicking me out?"
[The question almost sounds genuine— like he could actually be hurt by this. Of course that is not true.]
[ He cocks his head to the side, seemingly taken aback. ]
" Huh? Uh. No, I mean. I was just asking, since you got what you were coming for. Seemed....like..the logical next step. You can.. "
[ Looking away again, he mutters " Stay. ", as if it physically hurts to say, before he pauses, and adds on; ]
" ... If that's what you want. "
"Hm..
Nah. Thanks for offering, though."
[It knows exactly what it did. It smirks knowingly, strolling forward to Bennett’s front door.]
" Oh. "
[ He looks back and forth between the door and where Lukas was previously standing, before walking over to catch up. ]
" Okay!!- Hhm. Okay. That's fine, figured. It was nice to um..hope you enjoy your..thing..again. And don't send it back, please. I do not want it. "
"We’ll see."
[He turns just before getting to the door.]
"Why? Did you want me to stay?
You know all you’d have to do was ask."
[ He bristles, seemingly more nervous than before. If that's at all possible. ]
" . . . Well- "
[ He cuts himself off quickly from whatever he was considering, shaking his head subtly as if to physically wave it away. ]
" No. N-no that's fine, I actually think you leaving is a great idea. I'm sure you have plenty to do, a very busy man, that's what you are. "
[ With faux self-assurance, he pushes ahead of him, opening the door with slightly less struggle than last time. ]
[Lukas shrugs with a small hum, striding out of the apartment with a care in the world.]
"Whatever you say."
[ He hums out a tense "mmhhm", and quickly slams the door behind pixel. ]
