reading bad media takes online will never compare to the exquisite torture that is trying to have a conversation about basic literary analysis with your own family members
discussing media with people online: can you please put down the greek mythology for a second and actually read the text in front of you
discussing media with your parents:

Silksong Theory: Hornet inherited her father's power of foresight
1. In Hollow Knight, Wyrms (like the Pale King) can see the future.
2. Whenever Hornet (or the Vessel) "dies," they are startled awake on a bench.
3. This "death" never happened, it was a premonition of what COULD happen, glimpsed when the player stopped to rest.
4. This is the in-universe explanation for why benches act like save points, and why Hornet is so fearless.
YOU. PREV. YOU'RE ONTO SOMETHING.
Now this is epic
Hornet tries to DM
she does a great job but everyone else sucks
"haha yeah, i'm not nearly as worldbuildy-theorizy with hk. i mean, it's pretty fleshed out as is, haha!
anyways in all official artworks ghost is holding their nail in their left hand, plus the art of broken vessel shows their nail sheathed in a way that implies they would retrieve it with their left, AND the hollow knight, while lacking a left hand, DOES cast spells with their left and summon void tendrils with their left as PV, both more complicated feats than fencing. now the thing about this is that handedness is genetic, which, given that every living vessel is left handed, implies that the odds are HEAVILY skewed, meaning that PK is likely either left handed or ambidextrous himself. now the INTERESTING thing about this is that we KNOW that it's not just PK contributing to this genetic trait - because, as it turns out, HORNET is RIGHT HANDED, meaning that Herrah is a rightie and that the White Lady is a leftie. I personally like ambidextrous PK because of symbolism in writing - OH and that reminds me, speaking of genetics, we can also determine based on the similarity of the body structure between Hornet and THK- where are you going come back"
GUYS ITS TWO IN THE MORNING AND ALSO MY BIRTHDAY I DIDNT THINK THIS THROUGH
ALRIGHT the plan was to add visual aids by drawing them tomorrow but instead I am going to try and verbalize this and grab any images I need for this
so there's this silksong image that shows hornet's hip. bear with me here
okay? its pointy. like, it sweeps up instead of down, making a sharp shape instead of a round shape. bear with me.
there happens to be another character with the same hip shape
and they happen to be related
In Conclusion: the pale king's hips look like that. tadaaaa
to me it is so, so important that the Pale King loves. That the Pale King loved. That we donât forget that it wasnât just the Hollow Knight that turned to look to him, but the Pale King who turned to look to the Hollow Knight. His one surviving child.
it is so important to me that he has canonical powers of foresight. Meaning the Hollow Knightâs downfall was at best inevitable and at worst the result of constant denial. Or perhaps, his powers werenât all that far in the future at all, which begs the question: how late was it until he realized all his efforts were futile?
A universe where the Pale King did not care for his children I find dull. Uninteresting. The story becomes a heartless king who does heartless things. Bland. Expected. I find it so much more compelling to imagine that the Pale King did care. After all, how much could it really mean that thereâs âno cost too greatâ if what he committed cost nothing to him?
I think the guilt of his sealed children ate away at him, much as he tried to keep his mind off of them.
I think he loved the Hollow Knight, much as he tried to make his heart hollow and likewise theirs.
I think as much as he tried, when even the Hollow Knight failed, he fled. The guilt of his children, of the Hollow Knight, of failing his subjects was too great.
The Pale King is noble, wise, selfless. The Pale King is prideful, in denial, cowardly. He is many things but he definitely loved. At least I choose to believe so
