Spooky movie 18/31: Lake Mungo
Ever stay up at night all by your lonesome, reading creepy wiki articles about unsolved phenomena and murders? This movie felt like that and I adored it. It’s very slow, never breaking its self-imposed mockumentary rules. But all the build up really worked for me- probably in part because the whole point of the movie wasn’t built on just “GHOSTS ARE SPOOKY”. Some lovely concepts on grief at play, and just enough off-beat weirdness to really prove to be unsettling.
