Longing to be young again
As I was going through photo albums this weekend, I found a picture of me that must go back 8+ years. Its a photo of me sitting on a dock in Myrtle Beach holding my favourite stuffed animal. I remember that trip as the longest car ride ever, and finding out I was going to be a big sister.
I also remember that time (kindergarten-3rd grade) as the time where math hardly required a calculator, science was taught using food colours and water and writing a 700 word essay wasnāt required for english.
Those were the good old days, as Andy Bernard says in The Office āI wish we knew we were in the good old days when we were in themā.
I love my life now, but sometimes I wish it was as simple as when I was a kid.

My baby
This is Rhyme. He is the devil incarnate. But I love him, even if heās the worst ever. Heās my five month old German Shorthaired Pointer puppy and he has the energy of a 13 year old hyperactive kid.
Although he is the most annoying creature in the world, heās also the most loving. When I walk into my house at the end of a long school day, heās always there to give me a big « hugĀ Ā» (aka jumping on me). He is like a 13 year old boy, lanky and awkward when he walks around. Im also not sure if heās grown into his body yet, as his head seems tiny compared to his body.
I really would not give him up for all the money in the world. Heās my baby boy and although he leaves me with scratches and bite marks, I still adore him with all my heart. ā”
Class of Comfort; Blog #7
December 2nd, 2019
In late summer, I was already dreading all the assignments and pop quizzes of grade ten.
But then I waltzed into Miss Filiās class. Her ever growing energy and good mood always brightens my day. I had heard from some of my upperclassmen friends that she was too much of a hard marker, not good at making classes interesting and short tempered. My spirit for grade Ten english was already starting off terrible.
I recall the exact thing Miss Filiatrault said that made me know that I was going to love her class. Those words were « Karmaās a bitchĀ Ā». Thatās the first time that a teacher had even sworn in class and I was in shock for a good ten minutes.
Without a doubt, Grade Ten is tough. Really. Really. Tough. But Miss Filiās freezing cold classroom is the place of sarcastic remarks, constantly telling AJ to stop YELLING IN MY EAR and writing my blog posts way too early(sorry again miss fili).
This class feels like home, a place where I can express all my emotions and not be looked at like Iām a lunatic.
Iām so grateful for Miss Filiatrault and her class. She continues to make my days go from drab to fab.

It all started in september when I saw an instagram post about cartilage piercings...
I cannot wear earrings in my lobes as they are too weak to support any weight, so my doctor recommended getting a cartilage piercing or two. When I went to the piercing shop and looked through my piercerās portfolio, I saw how beautiful these simple piercings were.
That day, I got piercing #1, a helix ring.
After that I was sort of hooked. I followed plenty of piercing accounts and found ideas I loved and pleaded my mom to pretty please let me get another one!! It took about three weeks before I finally got the yes I was waiting for. So one sunny sunday afternoon in october I headed to Chateauguay and got piercing #2, a cartilage piercing.
After that, my parents said « enough piercings, you canāt get any moreĀ Ā»
And the funny part is, they thought I was really done. I had plans and they were going to be fulfilled.
After some more intense begging and being the best kid ever, I finally got the seal of approval to get only two more. They never said at what distance in time they had to be from each other. This past saturday, I drove back to Chateauguay and got piercings #4&5, who are respectively a second helix ring and a conch piercing.
People might think that body modifications are weird or unusual, but I think thats what makes them better. There are no two piercings that are the exact same and thatās okay. I feel like people see piercings and automatically think leather jackets and motorcycles. Honestly, if you saw me driving a motorcycle we would be in a lot of trouble...
All in all, people should express themselves however they please. Whether its getting a new piercing or a tattoo or maybe just cutting your hair, what you chose to do with your body remains your choice.

A few days ago I felt really sick. My loving grandmother came and scooped me up from school in about 15 minutes.
After a 3 hour nap, we started playing our favourite board game, Donāt get mad (werde nicht wütend Mann in german). She beat me, as per usual, and I got frustrated, but not mad;). I was waiting for my mom to come pick me up while she was on the phone with a customer for her funeral home. I got to thinking;
« I wonder if Grandma got picked up from school when she was sick? »
« I wonder if Oma (grandma in german) and Opa (grandpa in german) got picked up as well, or if they just had to deal with it »
I know how lucky I am to be a text away from people I need to reach. I really understand how lucky I am that those people, who probably didnāt have the same luck as I do, pick me up as soon as I need them. I understand the privilege I have to live in this day and age, where everyone is accepted and I can make a phone call from my watch.
I realize that my parents, grandparents and great-grandparents did not have the privilege I do. I feel like it is unfair when their lives are and were harder, and I can text my mom and she brings me food.
I understand how easy my life is compared to those of others. Iām truly grateful.

Thereās always one person. Or one animal. Or even just a thing.
One existing thing that makes your day to day life a bit brighter. That seems to make you a happier person.
For me, it was my dog, Preston. We got Preston (also known as Pup, Snuff, Snuffelupagus, and Pupper) 13 years ago, when he and I were both 2. My parents, who used to be saught after to show peopleās dogs, saw him and fell in love. When they started showing him, it took ONE weekend for him to become a champion, which is hard to do. For me, he was another buddy that was at the house, but it was different, he and I had some sort of connection that you donāt usually see between a two year old and a dog. When the time came to send him back, I was completely heartbroken, and his breeder/owner saw that... When she asked me if i loved Preston I answered « Yes!! Heās big, heās cuddly and heās black!!Ā Ā» When the breeder heard that, she couldnāt bear to take this dog away from this (lets just say it) ADORABLE little girl.
That day one of the best days of my life. But earlier this week, the worst day creeped up on me like a lion stalking its prey. My Preston, who was two months away from 16, had to be put down. While Iām writing this with tears in my eyes, I know deep down it was the right choice. Preston lived an amazing and eventful life. From the Westminster dog show to the time he jumped into the pool to swim with me, he was all around an amazing dog. Anyone who knew him loved him. There wasnāt much we didnāt bring him along to. All in all, my time with Preston was precious, thereāll never be a dog as perfect as him. Preston is now having his final nap under his favourite sleeping spot in our backyard. If you were lucky enough to know him, youāre a lucky one.
I love you Pup pup ā”
BLOG #3 OCTOBER 15TH 2019
Everyone has something they love. For me, itās my pets. My three dogs and two cats make my house have a constant rumble and thereās never a dull moment. Whether itās Ginger jumping on the fridge or Lou table hopping, thereās always something going on in the LalibertĆ© householdā¦
But, thereās a small burden that comes with having five pets and four people living in a one story, three bedroom house. The fact that my room (obviously the best of the ones in the house) is THE hangout spot for the two cats who absolutely loathe each other and the room with the comfiest dog bed makes it hard to cohabitate with up to four of my pets in there at a time. Another thing that goes along with the Ā« burden Ā» of Ā« pet mom-ing Ā» is that with three dogs who are 6,13 and 15, itās hard to trust anyone with them when youāre away. Theyāre your babies and you donāt want anything bad to happen to them!!
But the best thing about having five pets is surprisingly the worst days. When you come home from a terrible day at school and theyāre waiting to greet you at the door seems to make all the bad stuff go away. The days when youāre sick they curl up with you while you eat Netflix and eat soup under the covers acting like your own personal nurse.
Sometimes having pets is hard and theyāre all different. They all have different attitudes and personalities which makes my daily life a mixture of running around, cuddling with my animals and doing my homework for English class ;).
What the ruck? Blog 2 9/29/2019
Early in the summer, my mom asked me if I would want to play on the U15 saracens rugby team. After me nagging her about it for three years, of course my answer was a booming YES. The day before my first practice, I was a nervous wreck. What if I wasnāt fast enough? What if I canāt tackle? When I talked about it with my friend Leah, she assured me it would all be okay. A few hours before the practice I went out and got my cleats and mouthguard. I kid you not, in the whole Sports Experts, I had TWO options of cleats. Isnāt that crazy?Ā
When I got to that first practice, I was so anxious I could hardly talk,Ā but then Olivia, who would come to be one of my closest friends came up to me and said, āWho are you?ā and instantly we clicked. Throughout the summer we would have countless late night Facetime calls and numerous text conversations about any little thing.Ā
When I first stepped onto the pitch, some sort of wind brushed over me and made all my problems go away. That first game was so amazing and I felt so much confidence and like I had control over my life. I played all summer, getting better as the season progressed. By the end of the summer, my mom had counted and I had roughly 200 tackles as well as 4 tries. I had about 2 football field worth of breakaways. This is a game I love and I cannot wait to get back on the pitch.Ā
I love you more than the stars love the sky.
What you see vs What it is
BLOG ONE (sept 18th, 2019)
What you see:
When you see me in the halls or the classroom, you see a bright bubbly girl who wants to succeed. You see a girl with friends who like her and care about her. A girl who walks around with her Beats with pop and rap blasting into her skull. A studious but disruptive force in any classroom. The girl who can make anyone smile in an instant. Who can make even Miss Lum chuckle every once in a while. A girl who gets all the teachers jokes and laughs when she's supposed to. Whoās parents are supportive of her in everything she does. Who go to all her sports games and congratulate her for every good grade she gets. Who only strives for success.
What it is:
What you donāt see is a girl with anxiety so bad she doesnāt want to get out of bed some days. Who sometimes needs everyone to understand how much pressure she puts on herself in her studies. A girl who has maybe 2 or 3 friends, and how most the group she hangs out with donāt actually like her. Who cries about the smallest things. Who puts other people over herself. Who gets made fun of over her hair colour. She has parents who support and love her, but she feels like sometimes they just. donāt. get. it.Ā
Before youāre quick to judge someone, think about what they really feel. How your words can affect them. How when you think everything in your life is great, someone elseās isnāt.
