GIF REQUEST MEME: Bridgerton + favorite minor character (requested by anonymous)
Penelope Featherington + Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers gossip
Bridgerton (2020– )
Penelope realizing that Colin is not the idealized man she thought:
"Why why why had she been so foolish as to think that he was the perfect man? She’d spent half her life worshiping someone who wasn’t even real. Because the Colin she knew— no, the Colin she’d thought she’d known—clearly didn’t exist.
And whoever this man was, she wasn’t even sure she liked him. The man she’d loved so faithfully over the years never would have behaved like this.
(...)
“I hoped that you would forgive me,” she whispered. “Or at least that you would understand. I always thought you were the sort of man who…”
“What sort of man?” he asked, this time after the barest hint of a pause.
“It’s my fault, really,” she said, sounding tired and sad.
“I’ve put you on a pedestal. You’ve been so nice all these years. I suppose I thought you were incapable of anything else.”
(...)
She tried not to feel so disappointed. She tried to tell herself that she had no right to expect Colin to live up to her dreams, that her vision of him had been unfairly idealized, but…
But she still wanted him to be the man she’d dreamed of.
This was Colin! Colin, for heaven’s sake. Colin, who was as close to perfect as any human being could ever hope to be. She had no right to find fault with him, and yet…
And she felt so guilty for every pang of disappointment.
And yet she did.
(...)
“No one is perfect,” he said quietly.
“I know.” She leaned over and planted an impulsive kiss on his cheek. “You’re the imperfect man of my heart, and that’s even better. I’d always thought you infallible, that your life was charmed, that you had no worries or fears or unfulfilled dreams. But that wasn’t really fair of me.”
Can't wait to see this in the series.
His face softened, and he crossed back to her side. He murmured her name, tenderly taking her face in his hands. “I love you,” he said, his voice low and fervent. “I love you with everything I am, everything I’ve been, and everything I hope to be.”
“Colin…”
“I love you with my past, and I love you for my future.” He bent forward and kissed her, once, softly, on the lips. “I love you for the children we’ll have and for the years we’ll have together. I love you for every one of my smiles, and even more, for every one of your smiles.”

“…the Tenth Doctor had no choice but leave it there – it was full of incendiary information about his future. But once that future was lived, he’d have to get it back some time. He couldn’t leave all that confidential stuff lying around in a Vashta Nerada-infested library, could he? So one day Nardole got it for him. (Actually, there’s a whole story in my head about this, but not one I’ll ever get to write now. The last time he sees River – it’s terribly sad.)” - Steven Moffat
I want to read that story, but at the same time I really don’t.
“This is what he believes, and this is the reason above all I love him, my husband, my madman in a box, my Doctor.” - River Song
Good is good in the final hour, in the deepest pit, without hope, without witness, without reward.
River would know though. River always knew.
