David felt his annoyance flare back up as she mentioned Voldemort. The fact that she was mentioning something like that so casually left a bad taste in his mouth. “Talk like that is dangerous, Tamara. As someone who was here when that was happening, it wasn’t just half-bloods and muggle-borns that suffered.” He paused, taking a deep breath. “I’d be cautious if I were you and consider what you stand to lose if this is the path you want to continue down.” He gave her a tense look before glancing back to Emma. After a moment, he looked back at Tamara. “But who am I to offer advice, obviously you would know more than someone who lived through the war.” He held up his hands in surrender, vocalizing how flawed her logic was sounding to others.

Tamara crossed her arms and rolled her eyes as David spoke. “You don’t know anything about me. You don’t know what I’ve been through.” She was tired of being lectured by a Muggle-born professor and knew that if she didn’t back down now, Tamara would have acted out against him. “I know where I stand.”

“Deserve it, why? Because their different Snow challenged. “That doesn’t mean they don’t have anything to offer or you can treat them any way you want. Those rules are there to protect people who need it.”  Folding her arms she looked between them both. “What happened?” 

“I really don’t have to explain myself to you.” There was more to her than simply being a bully. She had been hurt in the past by people who were Muggle-born and Half-bloods, and ever since had never trusted their abilities. She wanted Emma and everyone like her to not study at Hogwarts or any other wizarding school.

“I just defended myself and she reacted...” Emma said, shrugging. “I’m tired of it. I don’t care anymore if she bullies me, but I can’t stand it when she bullies other people.”

What if you got expelled for your behavior? Then you'd have to have your wand snapped and you'd have to live without being allowed to produce magic like a muggle. What then?

Ehhh thanks for the concern but I really don't care. I know there are people who have been expelled before and do magic their own way. This is my last year anyway so there's no point in expelling me now. They're stuck with me.

“She is more than capable of defending herself however such spells are against school policy. I would step in for any student not just her.” The women scowled. “What you do is cruel!”

“They shouldn’t be against school policy if it’s for self-defense. That’s a stupid policy to have here. If Emma or another student struck at me first, I would fight back.” Emma listened to the conversation and was surprised that she actually agreed with Tamara for once in her life, but she also knew that was Tamara’s way of wanting something to be legal and used to her advantage.

“They deserve it. Sorry.” Tamara replied with a smirk on her face for she was clearly not sorry at all.

David let out a sigh at how riled up Emma was. Tamara definitely knew how to get under his daughter’s skin. “Because that will only land you in trouble.” He gave her a pointed look. “We don’t start fights.” It took everything in his being not to add on that they did finish them though. Emma had heard that phrase plenty of times, so he doubted she’d missed the allusion to it.

“If the inevitable you’re referring to is suspension, I’d have to agree.” He wasn’t sure why he was continuing this conversation. There were people who were a lot more likely to get through to her and he wasn’t one of them. “You are aware of how close you are to expulsion, are you not?” She had a track record, one that Blue was not happy with - not many were.

“Yeah, I’m aware of how close I am, and I never seem to  to get anything more than detention. You really don’t scare me, you know.” Tamara replied with a smirk, arms crossed. She was cocky, arrogant... Tamara didn’t let anything or anyone dictate her life. “Even if I were to get expelled, it won’t be the last you guys hear of me. I’ve heard of a rumor that people are wanting to bring back Voldemort’s legacy. It would be a shame if be being expelled resulted in that.”

Emma glared at her, hands clenching into fists behind her father. “You’re making threats now? You’re a real piece of work.”

Tamara laughed, nodding. “I’ll take that as a compliment.” Tamara only made such threats to get under Emma’s skin. She didn’t care for Muggle-born or half-blood people, but she would never stoop as low as kill them for it like Voldemort wanted.

Snow was taking a walk around the school grounds when she heard commotion in distance. As she got closer she heard her daughter yelling clearly angary and upset, concerned she made her way to the main activity. Upset from seeing how Emma was being treated the rage filled her. “Tamara! Hands off now!” She demanded. It wasn’t often Snow was intimidating but if someone was caught hurting those she loved she was terrifying. At the sound of Snow’s voice the courtyard of teens just stopped and stared. They’d never seen this side of their professor.

Tamara was having way too much fun bullying students like Emma. It seemed that Emma was always her main source for such behavior, and she wasn't about to complain for Tamara loathed Emma. "Aw! Not old enough to defend yourself, Emma? You have to have your mommy rescue you?"

Emma was about to speak when Tamara interrupted. "We're just having a bit of fun." She replied, turning her attention now to Emma's mom. "Well... at least I am."

“Your words never hit a nerve with me,” he spat, his face hard and hand itching to grab his wand, “your words mean nothing to me. I couldn’t care less about your opinion but, unfortunately, other people here do.” Killian understood why people found Tamara intimidating, she had a way of really saying some venomous things, things that really seeped into their skin and they took to heart. Personal things. Not to mention, getting in their face and keeping stern eye contact as she said them. As if Tamara took note of sensitive topics and spun them into hurtful insults. “I don’t know why anyone would listen to a bitter Slytherin such as yourself, you don’t exactly contribute to anything around here.” He smirked, “although it’s nice to know you consider Emma pretty, it’s a shame you never share such lovely words with her. Have you actually accomplished anything besides terror in this school?”

“Is that all you’ve got, Jones?” Tamara laughed, shaking her head. “Insults that don’t make me bat an eyelash? If you really wanted to hurt me with words, you have to do a lot more than petty lines.”

David found her lack of respect for others to be quite telling of what kind of person she was. As Emma went after Tamara, David was quick to pull her back. He refused to let Emma turn this into a physical altercation, no matter how deserving Tamara may be. “Emma, don’t. Trust me, she isn’t worth it.”

Once he was sure that his daughter wouldn’t dive after Tamara again, he turned his focus back to Tamara. “You see, that’s the thing, Miss Williams, you may think that this is right, but it isn’t. I could care less if you’re afraid of me, that’s not my goal. My goal here is to teach you.” He paused, looking at the girl with a tired look. He knew that he wouldn’t get through to her, she had made up her mind. “For example, here’s a lesson for you, consequences of your own actions. I’ll see you in detention, Miss Williams.”

“Why don’t you let me punch her in the face to find out if it’s worth it or not.” Emma didn’t fight against her father, but she definitely glared in Tamara’s direction. It only made the young Slytherin laugh about it.

“Teach me?” Tamara rolled her eyes, arms crossed as she ignore his lecture. “Detention is pointless for me, you know. I’ll only continue what I started, so you’re delaying the inevitable.”

He clenched his jaw and stood even closer, his attempt at being intimidating and threatening as he looked down at her, “don’t speak about Emma like that, nor any of the half-bloods and muggle borns in the school.” Killian had never loathed anyone as much as he loathed her and her hateful attitude. “And if you ever say that word in front of me again, you won’t have the ability to say anything. I know a few spells that could make that happen. So I suggest you keep your opinions to yourself because we don’t want to hear it.”

Tamara wasn’t the one to be intimidated so easily. She welcomed his courage because it only gave her more venom to use. She enjoyed this game a bit too much for her own good. “What word? Half-bloods? Mudbloods? The comment on your reputation.” She laughed at his threats with an amused grin to match after. “Your threats-- such spells will give you a one day ticket out of here. Blue won’t tolerate it even if I am being an ass in her eyes, and I really doubt that you would risk never seeing that pretty blonde thing again. Did I hit a nerve yet?” She asked, mocking him.

David watched Emma for a moment, eyes scanning her to make sure she genuinely was okay. He could simply by her body language that what Tamara had said and done had hit close to home. That would be something to handle once Tamara herself was handled. He had known that she liked to torment those who weren’t purebloods, but this was the first time he’d caught her.

His anger flared as Tamara responded, the determination in her voice present. However, as soon as she turned her jab towards David - it gave him pause. Taking a deep breath to balance himself, he raised an eyebrow towards the girl. “Correction, Miss Williams, I’m not a half-blood; I’m a muggle.” Placing his hands on his hips, he continued. “Which, if I remember right, correct me if I’m wrong as it has been a while since I’ve had to personally deal with this, that makes me even more less deserving.” David had spent his entire time at Hogwarts dealing with people just like Tamara, their comments didn’t get to him anymore as they had when he was younger.

Tamara laughed and waved off his correction. “Half-blood... pureblood... what’s the difference? They’re the same thing, if you ask me.” She was pleased to see that David didn’t forget his place. “You’re right about that. Mudbloods are worse. Shouldn’t be here as students.... and professors.”

Emma charged at Tamara but the bully only laughed knowing she wouldn’t be able to do anything.. Despite being so hurt by Tamara’s words, no one insulted her family and got away with it. “Nothing either of you do is going to stop me from speaking my mind or doing what I think is right. I’m not scared of either of you, especially not her.”

Killian looked at her as if she’d sprouted another head, “Greg? If you think he’s good company, you’re stupider than you look.” He sized her up and crossed his own arms, mirroring her just to irritate her. He still had a smirk on his face because, if he’s learnt anything about dealing with these Slytherin’s, it’s to show it’s not getting to you. “And what exactly is wrong with half-bloods? I’ll assume you’re referring to Emma who is a lot more appealing than a sour hag like yourself. Jealous, are we?”

“He is good company. He’s better than hanging around half-boods and Mudbloods all day.” Tamara gritted her teeth for she couldn’t stand Killian’s behavior. She hated when someone copied her and it was because they knew it got under her skin so easily. “Sour hag?” Tamara laughed. “Half-bloods shouldn’t be hear.” She said in reference to his question. “Pure-bloods are far superior than half-bloods and Mudbloods. Why would a pure-blood want to be with such people anyway? And I’m definitely not jealous.” She replied. “I’m just judging your choices in girls, unless you like her with the goal of getting into her pants? Because we all know of your reputation.”

If he could hex anyone in this school and get away with it, it would be Tamara. When he noticed her swaggering her way over to him, he clenched his jaw in frustration and prepared himself mentally because he knew he was going to get in trouble. Aye, he can control himself when it comes to most things but his anger does get the best of him at times and she knew just how to push his buttons. Tamara seemed to have a thing for just wandering around the school, terrorising people as if it was some sort of hobby but he stood up to her. He encouraged it because he’d rather she bothered him than the other students around here who took her comments to heart, who had to deal with her wrath and come out upset and hurt. His wand still sat in his pocket but the need to whip it out when he saw her was just so incredibly tempting. When she was approaching him, he walked over to meet her. Killian stood right in her face, looking down at her, no personal space as he radiated anger. But he decided to play this time.  “I had no idea you were so interested in my love life.” He loved to wind her up so he gave her a fake thinking face, tilting his head and pushing his lips together before saying, “oh, is that possibly because nobody in this school would ever go near you? Considering you’re a dementor but in human form. How does it feel to be the loneliest person at Hogwarts?”

“I’m not.” Tamara replied as she laughed off the idea. “I’m interested why you would want to like someone who is a half-blood. It’s disgusting.” She really enjoyed getting under the skin of students like Killian. She grossed her arms as he used her actions against her. “I’m not lonely. I’ve been dating Greg and he’s all I need.”

David had been on his way back towards his classroom when Emma’s distressed voice caught his attention. Making his way towards where her voice had originated, he came into view just in time to see the book be destroyed and hear Tamara’s hateful comment.

Picking up his pace, David jogged over, letting out a sharp “Hey!” to gain the girl’s attention. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?” He gave Tamara a narrowed look as he came to a stop between her and Emma. “Put your wand away, Miss Williams.” His voice gave no room for arguments. After a beat of silence, he glanced over at Emma. “You alright?”

Emma nodded hesitantly when her father checked on her. Her arms were crossed for while others bullied her and others like her, Tamara was by far the worst one yet. Her words and actions hurt more than the others, and her arms were now crossed as a way to close herself off.

“What does it look like I’m doing?” Tamara asked as she put her wand away. “Showing the half-blood she’s not welcome here. Oh! That’s right... you’re one of them as well, Professor Nolan.” She had some nerve speaking to a professor like that.

Emma often liked to sit outside with a book and read with the view that Hogwarts provided. It was her way of relaxing after a stressful day of classes or when bullies like Tamara got to her. She liked it out here more than the library because she was free from distractions of other people and their whispers, but that changed once Tamara had followed her. “Hey, Nolan!” She laughed and Emma sighed as she took that as her cue to leave, but Tamara moved in front of her to block her.

“Not so fast, half-blood. I haven’t been able to bother you today and it’s my favorite thing to do. What are you reading?” Tamara grabbed her book and laughed as she turned the pages, moving away so Emma couldn’t take it back. “Hey!” Emma cried, reaching for it.

“What is this? A Muggle book? I don’t allow for things like this here.” Before Emma could stop Tamara from doing something horrible, Emma watched in horror when Tamara performed the Incendio charm. Fire came from Tamara’s wand once she threw the book into the air and it was destroyed instantly. With no remorse, Tamara laughed. “Much like that Muggle book of yours, you and others like you don’t belong here.”

Tamara had been walking between classes with her antics and as a result, some students would often run the other way whenever they saw her. She was known by many to loathe having Muggles and half-bloods studying at Hogwarts. Some even viewed her as the Draco Malfoy type of this generation, but Tamara hated that comparison for she had learned he was more of a hero type than that of someone who held to the same opinion. No... Tamara was far worse than Draco, and even Blue, the Headmaster, feared she’d become dark upon finishing Hogwarts.

“Killian Jones.” Tamara smiled a she approached her fellow 7th year in the courtyard. “Rumors are going around that you’re taking that half-blood out on a date. Why? Afraid that no one with pure-blood will give you a chance?”
