Nights in white satin, Never reaching the end, Letters I’ve written, Never meaning to send. Beauty I’d always missed With these eyes before, Just what the truth is I can’t say anymore.
Best of ‘Business Baby’ Previously: Small Fact Frog
Watch this shit: Scientist David Suzuki on the suicidal nature of overpopulation
It starts all cheery until it kicks you right in the balls at the end.

My quick lowdown on books I read in 2013
Sucking eggs : what your wartime granny could teach you about diet, thrift and going green / Patricia Nicol Nicol, Patricia - if you like history and into the environment read it!
The art of eating in : how I learned to stop spending and love the stove / Cathy Erway - interesting read about a switch to cooking at home and avoiding eating out!
Dirt cheap : life at the wrong end of the job market / Elisabeth Wynhausen - reads like a news article and looks into an area that is easily overlooked in Australia
Hotel Kerobokan / Kathryn Bonella - interested in what Prison is really like? - check this Author out
The snark handbook : insult edition : comebacks, taunts and effronteries / Lawrence Dorfman - cute book
The millionaire next door : the surprising secrets of America's wealthy / Thomas J. Stanley, William D. Danko - food for thought that most truly rich people don't show off their money
The toyboy diaries : sexploits of an older woman / Wendy Salisbury - I dislike this Shameless woman, she is horrid
The world according to Y : inside the new adult generation / Rebecca Huntley - an insincere depiction of Generation Y by somebody with too many assumptions read off magazines
Cesar's way : the natural, everyday guide to understanding and correcting common dog problems / Cesar Millan with Melissa Jo Peltier - easy to read, not too sure how truly effective it is - my dog is still pretty naughty.
Shelf life : how I found the meaning of life stacking supermarket shelves / Simon Parke - fun read
Cesar's rules : your way to train a well-behaved dog / Cesar Millan with Melissa Jo Peltier - bit of a repeat from other Cesar books
The defining decade : why your twenties matter and how to make the most of them now / Meg Jay - a good book and lessons for people in general about taking chances- will probably re-read this
Ageless body, timeless mind : the quantum alternative to growing old / Deepak Chopra - Deepak is a bit much at times, plus I don't believe him
The road / Cormac McCarthy - I enjoyed this
The man who quit money / Mark Sundeen - story about a hippie
Stories I only tell my friends : the autobiography / Rob Lowe -book about anecdotes, however I wanted him to dish some dirt. Too polite.
Surviving the storm : how to start with nothing and make millions / by Jodie Nolan - bit boring
The money-less man / Mark Boyle - interesting read about a guy who lives in a van down by the river
The edible woman / Margaret Atwood - I have just fallen in love with Atwood
Face value : the politics of beauty / Robin Tolmach Lakoff and Raquel L. Scherr - boring
The naked tourist : in search of adventure and beauty in the age of the airport mall / Lawrence Osborne - great read about a man's travels
Socialism is great : a worker's memoir of the new China / Lijia Zhang - although I kinda didn't like the author (bit arrogant) it is a good book about living in communist China
Their eyes were watching God : a novel / by Zora Neale Hurston - intriguing read about a black woman's life
It's okay to miss the bed on the first jump : and other life lessons I learned from dogs / John O'Hurley - silly cute read from the guy who is John Peterman from Seinfeld
Gay men don't get fat / Simon Doonan - fun and flamboyant
Bossypants / Tina Fey - it is good - but I think a little too hyped up...
Snowing in Bali / Kathryn Bonella - this time about drug smuggling out of prison
Liaisons dangereuses. English - bit hard to read as it is in the form of letters but still pretty amazing
Simple pleasures : edible gifts for friends and family / Stephanie Evans,- -love it
Gifts from your kitchen / Deborah Nicholas - not as good as simple pleasures but still good for gift making!
Slaughterhouse-five Vonnegut, Kurt - hard to describe how I feel about Vonnegut but I like it
Cat's cradle / Kurt Vonnegut, Jr - liked it more than Slaughterhouse-five but like I said hard to describe his writing
The rise of Theodore Roosevelt / Edmund Morris - boring
Manology : secrets of your man's mind revealed / Tyrese Gibson and Rev Run ; with Chris Morrow - a bit stupid
The bitch rules : common sense advice for an uncommon life / Elizabeth Wurtzel - fun and easy read, could be better but not particularly bad either. I disagree with her chapter on cats
Me talk pretty one day / David Sedaris - worth the read
Oryx and Crake / Margaret Atwood - Atwood kills me everytime, too good
Emotional intelligence in everyday life : a scientific inquiry / edited by Joseph Ciarrochi, Joseph P. Forgas, John D. Mayer - ultra boring
Moosewood Restaurant cooking for health : more than 200 new vegetarian and vegan recipes for delicious and nutrient-rich dishes / The Moosewood Collective - pretty amazing if I might say so myself

Come break bread with us at the Fremantle’s rustic West end!
The next ALIA/ RIMPA New Graduates get together will be held in an 1890-built old Fremantle warehouse space! The owners of landmark Perth restaurants Balthazar and the Gordon Street Garage have teamed up a boutique Yallingup baker to build a flash restaurant called ‘Bread in Common’.
The menu is fantastic and the bar is stocked for people who clearly want more choice than a glass of Margaret River wine. At its proudly beating heart is bread. “If bread is the king, then the surrounding court is made up of some worthy knights. Put it all together and discover that bread, particularly very good bread, is not so common”.
This communal place is perfect to communicate and build relationships and networks within the profession whilst enjoying scrumptious honest & well-cooked food that would not burn a hole in your pocket (The mains start from $18.00)
Date: 29 October, 2013 (Tuesday)
Time: 6 pm

Venue Details: In the heart of Fremantle at 43 Pakenham St, between Bannister and Nairn St, just behind the start of the South Tce strip. A short walk from the Fremantle train Station.

Most interesting abandoned places in the world
Tumblr can be a useful tool for connecting with an audience that may not otherwise engage with your organization. But the site is also starting to come into its own as a tool for professional development. The growing community of Tumblrarians on the site has rapidly evolved into a great sounding board for new ideas and a source for mutual support. Librarian Kate Tkacik is maintaining lists of both libraries and librarians on Tumblr at her site (thelifeguardlibrarian. tumblr.com). Start there if you’d like to identify some best practices. Much like our libraries themselves, Tumblr’s utility grows the more you put yourself out there. Tumblr’s core values of community, creativity, and mutual generosity make it a great fit for libraries. If you’re looking for a new way to connect with your online audience – or to replace your blog platform—it’s certainly worth the experiment.
Every Day I’m Tumbling » Public Libraries Online (via rachelfershleiser)
Well spent Monday part 1.
Today I had a flexi day off (yay!)
I woke up at my parents and enjoyed lovely crepes made by my dad.
Took the dog to the beach with my sister (you can see little Tia looking out the window here).
I then met up with a friend in the city- where we had beautiful salad at City Greens - to which you can mix 3 different salads for $8.50. I only got through one layer! yay to lunch tomorrow!
I then went to Maurice Meade- where I was a hair model for a very talented hairdresser. The cost was free and the results were amazing - I highly recommend Maurice Meade at Karrinyup.
For dinner I went to a fundraising dinner for St Mary's girls school- hosted by Faith Nichols of Perth Catering company - Comestibles. It had an Indian theme and we enjoyed a variety of street food. Plus a recreation of Heston Blumenthal's 'Tikka Masala' and McDonalds 'Paneer Burger'.
Overall it was a great night and always fun to attend food-related events.
I've labelled this post 'Part 1.' Since I'll make a post of photos of the event when my sister publishes them.
Weekend continues with a bit of the sea
Nightfill was great - I had some much needed exercise in my most common Isle (onepot meals/oil/flour/bakeware). Afterwards I braved a long drive north to my parents place. My day was spent accepting hand me downs via my sister and time with the dog. I also collected my travel papers for Turkey. I also have been thinking hard about purchasing shake em up pancakes for about 2 months now so I bought some. We had a treat for dinner. We went to Kalis seafood restaurant by the sea. We shared garlic bread and chips with the table. My sister and I shared some fish tacos and haloumi salad. We ended the night with creme brulee mmmm so satisfying. Great service and food - although the menu was quite limited and short on choice. Looking forward to tomorrow where I will get lunch in the city, be a hair model and try an indian cooking class-all of which I shall try and get some pics of ;).
Short sat post!
I woke up this morning feeling a bit crook - touch of a cold and just tired. Really was not in the mood to go do the volunteer work at 7am in this weather (freezing). I did it and my day was brightened by my mother and sisters visiting me afterwards and eating some breakfast. I also had an apple from on of the stalls there - tastiest apple I've ever tried. The breakfast was.the breakfast bagel which I hoovered up. I had a day of house hunting planned but we all decided to postpone it as I'm going on holiday next weekend so it would be better once my loan is approved and I can get to work to find my little piece of the world. I went home and slept until about now. So lazy but good. I'm going to night fill in an hour- get some exercise happening. I'm looking forward to tomorrow as I'll have a day with my family and sleep over since I have a flexi tomorrow. Flexi is one of the many reasons I love the library. I can really buckle down and get through work and flexi will even that out by allowing that downtime.
