Tamora Jean Calhoun grew up in a very strict military family on the Los Angeles Air Force Base in El Segundo, California. When young, they watched their mother and father train their asses off, flying jets that seemed to go faster than the speed of sound and carry things that were nearly three times their weight. When their parents were discharged and settled down in Santa Monica, they taught them a variety of things, like taking apart cars and guns so they could put them back together. It all fascinated them and that’s when they knew they wanted to enlist. That all changed on their 16th birthday, when their father left to Afghanistan and was killed in a bomb explosion, their life spiraled downward. They never applied to the military as they struggled to help their now alcoholic mother piece her life back together; Tamora worked part-time in an auto shop fixing cars.

Welcome to the island...

Wanting to get as far away from any reminders of their family’s sad past, Tam moved across the country to Costa Serena with their mother and is now known as Tam and pretty much gave a big “fuck you” speech to gender on the last day of their previous job in front of the entire staff and openly came out as genderfluid. They’re very loud and proud of who they are and everyone knows it, though no one would dare mess with them for they have the potential to scare even the scariest in town. Their intimidating aura helps them out a lot and keeps them guarded all the time, something that’s successfully helped them from crumpling into a big mess over their misfortunes.

Stay a while...

The island is exactly the kind of place where Tam feels they belong. While there’s definitely people around who they wouldn’t ever dream of wasting time on, they’ve found their own clique and have made quite a few new friends during their time here. Although they’re still looking after their mother and trying everything they can to get her the help she needs, Tam has their own life and tries their hardest to leave the house every once in a while in order to enjoy it before the years slip by in a blur. They have a dream of one day having their own mechanic shop but, deep down, they really wish they’d tried enlisting in the military.

Talia McKinnon (Crush): Although she has a way of getting under their skin, Tam can’t seem to get enough of the racer and enjoys every minute they spend together.

I would’ve made you think I was a music history genius or something.” Tam joked as they ran their fingers through their short hair. “That’s a good point. “Honestly… I’d be willing to pay that much to have a guitar that Brian May has played during a concert or something. I mean, I’d spend the rest of my life paying it off, but it’d totally be worth it. Hell, I’d pay that much just to hold the guitar he built with his dad called the Red Special.” They blinked, realizing they’d gone off along a random train of thought. “Now you’re speaking my language.” Tam nodded enthusiastically, taking the exit he’d indicated.

“Wait a second… you’re not?” He said with a great gasp and widened eyes that stared at them for a moment, before erupting in a laugh. “Oh, man! That’s what I call a goal. I mean, another way to make it happen and not go broke… is hunt him down, become his friend and then ask real nicely. See? It’s simple.” Matt teased with a happy sigh. “Tell you what, if either of them crosses our paths, we’ll split the debt. Can’t let my friend go down solo and I know you’d do the same if it were any of Angus Young’s babies.” He grinned as they excited the place, a bar right in front of their faces as they stepped into the street. “Tam? Have you been reading The Secret or something? Cause the Universe is hearing you loud and clear.” Matt chuckled.

Tam rolled their eyes at his reaction but laughed. “Ha, very funny.” They tilted their head, thinking over his plan and shrugged. “I guess it could work. I mean, I comment on almost all of his Instagram pictures... he has to at least recognize my name by now, right? Plus all I want is to hold his guitar... wow I sound like a physocpathathic stalker. But hey, I would literally owe you my life if you split that bill with me. I don’t know if I’d be able to find a better friend if I tried.” They playfully punched his shoulder. “C’mon, it’s too late in the day for us to be this sober. We need drinks quick.”

“Consider me interested.” Tam flashed another grin in Kiara’s direction. “I wouldn’t know too much about that - I’m an only child. But, my Aunt Mick is a really party girl, so I guess I learned a thing or two from here, no matter how much my mom used to try to keep the two of us out of trouble.”

“Consider yourself lucky for being an only child,” Kiara grinned, shaking her head. “My brother is always pulling me into trouble. It is kind of nice to have a partner in crime though.” She looked down at her glass, realizing that it was almost empty. “Do you want to have another round?”

“I don’t know, sometimes it gets very lonely not having a permanent partner in crime. Would you be interested in getting into some trouble with me?” Tam smirked. “I never turn down a drink.” They ordered two more drinks and cleared their throat. “What’re you doing after this?”

“Don’t mention it, Kiara.” Tam flashed another smile before taking a sip of their own drink, their eyes never wandering from the girl’s face. “I’m really impressed - anyone who can drink something with that much vodka without sputtering is the kind of person I want to be around. Yeah, I’m from Walt; it’s a shame we’re just now meeting, but better late than never.”

“Definitely better late than never,” Kiara smiled. “And about the vodka, I’ve drank quite a bit in my time,” she tilted her head back and let out a laugh. “I guess that’s what happens when you have an older brother though. I’ve had to go to plenty of parties with his friends, and sometimes drinking is the only thing entertaining about them.”

Kiara grinned and took Tam’s hand, feeling heat rise up to her face. “Thank you so much. I’m Kiara.” She took a sip of the drink, “Damn, this is pretty good, now I appreciate you even more,” she laughed, “Say, do I know you from somewhere? Do you go to WDPA too? You look so familiar.”

“Don’t mention it, Kiara.” Tam flashed another smile before taking a sip of their own drink, their eyes never wandering from the girl’s face. “I’m really impressed - anyone who can drink something with that much vodka without sputtering is the kind of person I want to be around. Kiara took a seat at the bar on her own. Exploring Barcelona was fun, but she was in desperate need of a drink. The bartender started speaking fast Spanish, sliding a drink her way, and Kiara raised an eyebrow. “Hey,” she said to the person next to her, tapping their shoulder, “do you have any clue what this guy is saying? Going out by myself without knowing Spanish was probably a bad idea.”

“I’m no expert, but I’m willing to bet he’s saying that someone’s already paid for that drink. And that someone is me.” Tam grinned and held out their hand. “Tam, nice to meet you. I figured it’d be my good deed for the day to get a pretty girl a drink.”

Stella laughed, appreciative for the helping hand. Fountain water definitely would not have gone with her outfit. “Thanks! I didn’t know where the night would take me but I’m glad an embarrassing swim in a big ass fountain wasn’t part of it!” She adjusted herself, and considered their ultimatum. She thought about it for a moment, then took one final sip before handing the drink over. “A small price to pay for some directions and a fabulous compliment,” she said, flipping her hair. “You know though I can afford buying you your own. I’m not sure how you feel about frozen guava juice and vodka.”

“Embarrassing for you but amusing for me.” Tam chuckled as the woman took one final drink before surrendering the cup. Although it didn’t smell particularly appetizing, it was definitely strong enough to explain why she was in the state she was in. “There’s no need - if anyone’s buying something it’s going to be me getting you some food in your system before all that vodka makes you sick. As for this...” They tossed the cup into a nearby trash bin with a grin before lightly tugging Stella along. “C’mon, let’s try to get you sobered up, beautiful.”

“Nah, I don’t really like taking credit when it’s not due.” He smiled, his eyes slowly widening at their story. “I mean…I can believe it but, fuck. That will always be pretty odd. You can always count on it either being one of a kind or having belonged to a person that was one of a kind.” Matt nodded, knowing the almost two hours they had been there was enough– besides, it wasn’t as if he wasn’t dragging Shay along the very next day. “Let’s bounce. It’s always five o’ clock somewhere and I’m damn sure that where is here.” The guy grinned as he pointed the nearest exit for Tam and him to take.

“Mm... I like hearing you compliment me. Feel free to keep going.” They grinned and grabbed a few of the chips. “Cool. Let’s get started then. I heard about some cool park that’s around here somewhere. Wanna start there?”

“Well, I really only did the research on the exhibit…what I just said is written in that little plaque.” Matt laughed, jokingly patting his face. “I’ll have to keep my drooling at bay, restoring any of these will cost more than any of my organs.” He sighed happily, looking over at Tam. “Well, you know I could stay here forever and ever, but I’m not an asshole and I’ve a hunch you’ve got a wicked list of things we could do too.”

Tam looked at the plaque and raised a brow. “Oh. Well... you totally could’ve just made me believe that all of that came from your mind.” They chuckled. “Well, there was one time I came across a guitar that was fifty thousand dollars. Can you believe that? It was somewhere in Nashville. Didn’t look any different from any other guitar, but to each his own I guess.” They shrugged. “I’m just ready to get to the nearest bar, so please, take your time. I don’t mind.”

Tipsy and lost, Stella didn’t let that stop her from having a good time. Stumbling around the city with a fruity drink in hand and a smile on her lips, she came to a rest on the edge of big, beautiful fountain. “Estoy, um… estoy sono perso?” she said, shamelessly mixing the little Spanish she knew with her Italian, “I mayyyy or may not know where I am. Can you help?,” she chuckled, “Oh and do I still look good?”

Tam’s attention was immediately grabbed by a woman who’d stumbled into their line of vision. They chuckled at her poor Spanish and walked over, lightly grabbing her arm, afraid she’d end up falling into the fountain. “I can help you, but you’re gonna have to give up the drink. And yeah,” their eyes roamed her body shamelessly, “You still look great.”

“Yo… I never thought I’d see one of these in person.” Of course he had gone straight to the Museum of Music; he wouldn’t have been able to forgive himself if he missed it. He looked to Tam, smiling brightly between them and one of the guitars. “Seville, 1859; wouldn’t you do just about anything to get to play it?”

Tam nodded, admiring the instrument. It was obvious that Matt was more into guitars than they were, but they were also able to appreciate the beauty of it. “You really did your research before coming here, huh? It is a nice-looking instrument... I can only guess what you’d be willing to do to get your hands on it. You’re basically drooling.” They joked.

Sammy smiled as he noticed Tam sitting nearby. He’d really liked them last time they’d talked and they seemed like the perfect companion now that he was ready to go out and explore more of the city, in actual daylight. “Hello, I’ve decided you’re luckily stuck with me for the rest of the day.”

I was actually getting ready to go hit up some of the popular spots around here if you’re really interested in being trapped with me all day.”

Shenzi scoffed. “Please, I am capable of being responsible for myself no matter how much alcohol I drink.” Realizing them focus on somebody else, she smirked. “I can see that. Here’s a piece of advice: drink and give in to the distraction. How else are you going to have fun here?”

“Yeah? Even in a foreign country?” Tam finally broke their gaze away from the brunette to give Shezi a skeptical look. “And leave you all alone? I don’t think so - I can have any pick of the beautiful women Barcelona has to offer during the rest of the trip. Right now is me and you and... whatever the hell we get ourselves into.” They raised their glass in a toast before finishing off the shot.
