I’m currently arguing with someone who called Cait a n*zi on TikTok and all I’m gonna say is this. Arcane is a show, that does exist in our reality and can and do pull inspiration from real life events. But it also exists in the context of Runeterra. A world where it history differs vastly from ours, which shapes it political, social and economic landscape. To only engage in the show in such a rigid way forgoing the artist intentions and the almost 20 years worth of lore behind it is intellectually dishonest and stifles creativity.

✨Suspended disbelief✨

To hold the fantastical to the standards of mundanity makes it well, mundane. It also inadvertently stifles nuance and intellectual conversations that can be had about the text. We as a fandom should be able to do both. Because quite frankly, I find that Caitlyn’s clear descent into oblivion an allegory for self harm. Where Jinx’s mental decline was more “blatant”, Caitlyn’s lies in the metaphorical.

As a fandom we can speak in the context of what Caitlyn’s actions means to her as a character and what it means for Runeterra at large.

P.S. I am in no way condoning Caitlyn’s actions, I am just saying that multiple conversations can be held , and all be intellectually honest. I shouldn’t have to say stuff like this but here I am. I also don’t want this post to be used as a means to downplay actions OR as a means to exaggerate her actions. We can just speak on her.
