there’s something so soft and sweet about the thought that as luke goes around the galaxy saving force sensitive children, R2 is there comforting the kids during difficult moments of separation. like he spoke to grogu and grogu was comforted and it made me remember how R2 was there for anakin’s separation from his mother, and luke’s painful departure from Tatooine after his aunt and uncle’s death, and leia mourning alderaan. R2 and Threepio are traded back and forth between Anakin and Padme to protect or be a companions with each other during the clone wars, they were the only witnesses to their wedding. R2 and Threepio stay by Bail Organa’s side and he sent them bc he trusted them with his daughter on the Tantive IV. these droids, especially R2, just are there to say i trust you and i’m here for you and it’s sort of meta because the whole thing is that you see them at least once in almost every single piece of star wars media and so they’re a comfort to us but also to the characters themselves. george always said it’s sort of like R2 telling the story and we all love baby grogu so much anyway im so soft for R2 im SO emotional
