Module 1. Assessment 01 (My Experience at school: Teaching vs Learning)
Way back 2008 when I started my primary school on province at Aranas Elementary school. I live at my grandma’s house and from there I started learning because my grandma’s taught me basic reading, writing and solving some math problem. In school, I always thought that learning for me is just having fun with my classmate, playing games with them and enjoy interacting with them. The classroom setting by then was not that truly restricted and my teacher is just teaching us basic subjects like English, Math, Filipino and Science. But the classroom discipline applied when I reach my third grade level.
High school life was the best part of my experience in schooling. At this stage I learned a lot with my mistakes, lessons, and experiences. I started my junior high school at Makati high school and it was not easy to adjust in that kind of environment because i came from the province. I’m a little bit shy, quite and introvert sometimes until I met some of my classmate and become my friends. At this stage, I learned to choose one of my peers and having some enemy. I also learned to become a bad student were I cut classes and going to the mall, having an argument with my teacher and even getting involve into a fight but with that I learn from my mistakes and also from the advice of my teachers. The photo below shows how fun my junior high school.
My senior high school life become more serious and competitive because this is the stage where the pathways of our future course. Well, there is no exciting moments but there is unforgettable memories like our J.S Prom, acquaintance party, year end party and our school foundation. I learn to become a challenger in our class and develop my confidence in front of everybody because the classroom setting here is now student centered based were we start to practice our communication skill, mental skill and capabilities to further shaping us on what would we be become. Cooperation and discipline is one of the most important things to consider at this stage. The photo below shows how we learned to work as a group and make every lesson in General Mathematics more interesting and fun. My teacher way of teaching here is more group activities and creativity.
And now I’m in college degree and all the learning from my past schooling is still continues. But at this stage the challenges and lessons is more difficult than before and still I learn more because i will become a teacher someday. The photo below show the new era of my schooling with my new classmates. Also I’m very happy and lucky to become a member in a club like S.P.L (Samahang PugadLawin), because I gain information and learning from the seminar and activities.
For my overall views, I conclude that the difference between learning and teaching is that of experience. We learn from our experience, we learn from our mistakes, we learn from our own understanding of what learning is all about. Even our teacher can learn from aside from the fact that we learn from them in their way of teaching. I could say that learning and teaching has a strong bond for each other because we can teach others from what we learn and we also learn by teaching them. its a fair connection. The photo below shows a person who learn from his experiences and still want to learn. He is a dreamer, with a goal on his mind and an a role model with a passion on his heart. He would become a successful educator someday.
