advice from middle school teachers w/ ADHD
is there a way to have a holder for each student?
big pile of paper for the day, go through and organize at the end of the day
write two weeks of assignments on the board, if graded? so you can point somewhere when students say "what is my make-up work"
maximize active grading -- have students grade each other's work rather than you grading everything!
shoe organizers for turn-ins lol - a designated student can pull them out in numerical order at the end of class - could another student write down names of students absent or missing work?
self sign-out w/ bathroom
students w/ something important to tell you can write it on a sticky notes and tape it to the computer screen
sign language for bathroom, water, comment, answer, question, volunteer
conferences list on board (could work both ways)
tuesday-tuesday instead of monday-friday?
talk it out! it can be difficult to work solo
two to-do lists -- one for ASAP, one for extra time
"productive music" on youtube
dance it out when you've gotta
some days will just mentally be a wash
print in advance, organize in order
write on lesson plans for notes?
batch/long-range planning
15-minute timers with two minutes in between - use for students, too?
checklist of what to accomplish before leaving work
open shelving, clear containers
reply to emails/messages RIGHT AWAY
ask students for reminders!
