Part 2- The skirt

Honestly this part was extremely easy thanks to sugarvail_ on Instagram ⬇️

I used their pattern for a skirt with shorts built in and then just appliquéd the gold design on the skirt before sewing the shorts on!

Before doing that thought I needed the design for the gold part printed out on paper for accuracy. I found an MMD model for this miku and inverted the texture to make it printable without using all my black ink which I'll provide here!

The pattern is mirrored (from the left) all around the skirt, so you may need to resize it for yourself if you're bigger or smaller than me

Overall very pleased with how sleek this came out and how perfectly it fit me! I got all the design proportions right and it looks identical to the source material!

Unhappy Refrain (agitation) Miku worklog!!!

Part 1- The Jacket

First I had to learn how to use this stretch vinyl

It was a huge pain in the butt, but was easier to sew right sides together, and with either tissue paper or masking tape you could sew on the shinny side

For the heart, two cardboard rectangles overlaid made the overall shape, then I drew in the sub shapes from that

To get the pieces uniform to the shape and to stay flat while sewing I taped them to pieces of printer paper in the same shape (these are still in the jacket 🙈) and taped them down with masking tape instead of using pins

Added the sleeves, lined with satin fabric

Then ran short on time and blitzed through the front and details without documenting 😭 but here's the final try on before leaving / finishing in the hotel room before miku expo

Overall very happy with how symmetrical and nice it all turned out, it's missing a couple "buttons" or whatever those squares in the design are, but has all the essential parts!

I'm excited for all I've accomplished this year and can't wait to grow as an artist, cosplayer and maker in the next year. I had a lot of challenges in my way this year and know I'll have some pretty big ones in 2026, but I feel like I should acknowledge all I've done and dream to do so far.

2025 Accomplishments:

Graduated college

Vended at a con for the first time ever

Got a stable full time job

Was maid of honor at my best friends wedding

Got to see Babymetal live

Got to visit Canada for the first time

Lost 20 lbs

Made new friends

Rekindled old friendships

2026 Goals:

Resume 3D print commissions once I'm in stable housing

Move in with my partner

Make Callie from Splatoon cosplay

Make infinity ♾️ miku cosplay

Film a dance cover (likely in cosplay)

Start and finish my alien miku figure

Make more process videos and pictures

Compete in another cosplay contest

It's been a wild ride and I hope next year is better, this is a very "for me" post but honestly it felt good to write everything down that I've done and want to do. If you have the energy after this crazy year it could be worth it to check in with yourself, I hope the big 26 isn't too insane for us all.

Kyoko Sakura from Madoka Magica

This is my most spikey and anime like wig yet and I'm proud of how it's turned out, I had to tease a lotttt to get that sharper angle that she's got for bangs.

The back I just steamed into points after the whole wig was crimped and it kinda works. It looks better in person so I'm excited for the shoot!

The pointy bits at the top of the pigtail are teased and brushed so much to get the shape and hair sprayed like crazy, I also used clear hair bands at the base to keep it up right
