other times I want to put them into a maze and see who kills who just to escape without knowing that I am still controlling the maze and twisting it around on a daily basis without them knowing

Vsmp interpretation/AU where vampirism is a metaphor for self. It is a character's queerness, disability, religion, and identity as a whole. To be cured is to be stripped of everything you are.

The vampires try to turn as many of the humans as they can because they want to see the truth hiding beneath their skins. They fight so hard against the humans because they cannot bare the thought of losing everything they are.

The humans fight so hard not to be turned because they don't want to know the truth about themselves. What if they are terrible? What if the mirror they are shown is horrific? They want to cure the vampires so that the vamps don't have to obsess and over-indulge in their own identities. So they can be blissfully unaware once again.

Being cured isn't painful. It is only numb. Like being reborn, but into an old body. You can't remember who you are not.
