today was the first concert in the world tour that your group was holding this year. nervousness crept up on you as you tried to calm yourself down by taking deep breaths. after a long break, your group was finally having their first world tour and today was the first showcase.
grabbing your in-ear headsets and microphone you walked over towards the life, which took you from backstage to the main performing stage. the cheers and screams of fans outplayed the starting tunes and beats of the first song that was playing. the dark concert hall now shone with the bright glow of your group's lightsticks.
the beats escalated towards the first verse as you walked over to the left side and began the choreo. the outfit that you were wearing was pretty but very difficult to perform in. the leather outfit made it incredibly hard to move in, nevertheless you did the choreo.
after the first few songs, you said a temporary goodbye to your fans and headed back downstairs to get ready for the next set of songs. as soon as you were out of the site of your fans, you closed your eyes, you were disappointed in yourself, for letting your outfit mess up your performance.
at the end of your day, you were tired, physically and mentally, you were sad about the fact that you didn't perform well and that ate away your peace while you drove back to your house. something that slipped your mind was that your cousin, joshua hong from seventeen, was waiting at your house for you.
your cousin was many things and right now it was your savior, even if it did sound a little cringe, you considered joshua like your safe place and he did consider you the same too. growing up five minutes away from each other, you and joshua met every day and spent the majority of your time together, pranking or teasing each other.
you unlocked the door of your house, your gaze catching the shoes that were way too big for you next to the shoe rack. you mentally slapped yourself for forgetting your cousin was at your place.
"joshua," you called out his name. the sound of the tv made you understand that he was in the living room. walking towards it, you saw your cousin sleeping on the sofa while watching your reality show's latest ep. a smile grew on his face when he saw you and he walked over and brought you in a big hug.
"hello, little sis." he greeted you in english, the stupid smile and infectious happiness now make you all giddy and excited. "have you been well?" he asked you while he switched back to korean.
you hummed in response. you walked over to the kitchen to get a glass of water, joshua following you around.
"are you okay? you don't seem well, what happened?" he busted out with questions as soon as joshua saw the lack of enthusiasm in your body.
"just tired because of the concert," you answered as you sat down on the couch while facing your cousin. he tilted his head in confusion.
"i don't think so, is something else bothering you." he asked you again, this time a little softer, but he was quick to add on. "you don't have to tell me if you don't want to."
"i just felt like i messed up today's show." you sighed while rubbing your forehead.
"why?" joshua's voice showed concern.
"the outfits that i was wearing today were so uncomfortable to dance in and i just forgot the dance in the middle of one song. how could i do that? i practiced for months only to forget the choreo." you rambled on and joshua looked at you, understanding the situation.
"it's ok, i made mistakes too, we all do." you looked down at the floor, and joshua knew that you didn't want to talk about it.
"i want to talk about it, josh." you laughed a little when joshua slipped on the carpet while running to the kitchen. "what are you doing?" you call out.
"getting reinforcement," joshua shouted back and you connected the dots, the reinforcements being food. a small laugh exited your mouth, as joshua came back both his hands filled with food.
now that the both of you were seated comfortably on the couch, joshua looked at you, ready for you to start talking.
"today was not the best it was horrible. the outfit was so hard to perform in and i forgot the choreo. the jewelry kept on snapping. my voice cracked so many times during the performance." again you rambled, joshua's gaze looked at you with empathy.
"don't worry, it's okay. today was the first time you had a concert in over two years, it's expected for those things to happen. all i can say is that i understand the position you're in and there is nothing that can i can say or do to make you better." joshua talked to you in a soft, comforting manner, that bought a sense of homeliness in you.
"i practiced for so long, and now it feels like everything has gone to waste because of the performance today." you rubbed your head while looking down at the floor, finding it hard to face your cousin.
"nothing went to waste, today was a bad day and you are allowed to have those. go back tomorrow and show all those people that you are the same performing genius, that you were all those back."
his words helped you forget all of the worries and made you understand the situation. it was okay for you to have bad days, as you are human.
"thanks, josh." those two words made your cousin smile as bright as the sun, his happiness radiating off him on you.
for the rest of the night, you and your cousin were bundled up on the couch, watching videos from pre-debut svt to cheer up. it was moments that made you glad about having a great bond with your cousin. you were glad that joshua hong was your brother, the best brother ever.
