tyra-moore:
“You are my hero!”, Tyra beamed at him, as he agreed to take a look at her car. Even if he couldn’t manage to repair it right know, it was still the best chance she had. Leaving the garage in the direction of her car, she glanced sideways at the man. “You have a child?”, the girl asked after hearing him say something about a babysitter. A problem she certainly knew as well. “I mean I also have a girl!”, Tyra explained, not wanting to seem too curious or judging or whatever. “She’s staying at a friend, that’s why I have to call and tell them that it’s going to take some time until I can pick her up… hopefully not by foot”, the girl grinned, although it was a rather sarcastic one this time. When they finally reached her car, she nodded at the man as he gave her his phone, making the call while he started to look at the vehicle.
“it’s no problem.” tate assured her with a small smile. it was his job after all. plus there was no guarantee he could really do anything tonight. just tell her what was wrong. nodding at the question he looked over at her. “i have two, yeah.” he replied. the kids were a handful, he knew that better than anyone. and that was why they went through babysitters. plus he worked quite a bit, and sitter weren’t fond of long hours. “you do? i have a girl too, she’s six. and my son is two. if i can’t get it to start i could give you a lift. or at least call a cab for you.” he chuckled softly. once she took the phone he went to the door and popped the trunk, moving to lift it so he could look at the engine.
tyra-moore:
Thankful that he at least considered looking at his car, Tyras face lit up. “The car is just down the road!”, she immediately said. Of course she could call a cab to get back into the city but she still didn’t like the thought of not having her car tomorrow to drive Gracie to school. “I’d be forever grateful if you could have a look at it, it’s… oh god! Do you have a phone I could use?! I need to make a call!”, while worrying about the car, the girl had completely forgotten, that she needed to pick up her daughter at a friend’s house, they’d probably already be waiting for her.
nodding at the distance, tate grabbed the keys and moved around the counter. down the road wasn’t so bad, he’d be nice and take a look at it. “alright then, lead the way.” tate nodded towards the door. “sure, it’s no problem. although if it’s something major i’ll have to have a better look at it tomorrow in the garage. i’ve gotta get home, the sitter gets annoyed when i’m late.” and he’d already been through three babysitters in the last two years. “oh yeah,” he told her, reaching into his pocket and offering her the phone.
emorymarino:
“frozen is overrated anyway if you ask me,” emory stated with a shrug. she wasn’t too much of a fan of it, though she had of course seen it a few times, even if it had just been on a friday night when she really didn’t have anything else to watch at all.
“not according to my six year old daughter. she says it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to her.” tate informed the woman with a small smile. “six year olds are very dramatic.” he added, a small shrug following. although he was sure he wasn’t missing out on much.
dicrawford:
“it will take a second. i promise.” diane pleaded as she adjusted the valentino bag that was over her shoulder. she wasn’t usually one to beg, but she was late for an important meeting. “i need help pumping the front tyres of my car.” mrs crawford explained, pointing to the bentley parked outside. even just by looking at her you could tell she wasn’t the sort of woman who knew anything about cars. “if it takes longer, i’ll pay you extra.”
taking a moment to look the woman over as she spoke, it came as no surprise that she needed help doing something simple like pumping tires. but hell, who was he to turn down some extra money? he might even take longer on purpose, just to see how much she’d give him. “alright, i’ll take care of it.” he decided, picking up a rag nearby to wipe off his hands before heading towards the door.
camillewindscr:
She was supposed to be picked up by her Security but yet, they had failed her and now the ran had just came pouring down in good old tradition London weather. “Sorry, I can go it’s just that it’s raining outside and ve got no umbrellla.” Millie apologized truthfully.
looking up at the girl his eyes darted to the window, just now realizing that it was raining. great. he still had to walk to the tube. you’d think after living in the city for over two years he’d know to keep an umbrella on him at all times. “well, it doesn’t look like it’s stopping anytime soon. might just have to get a little wet.” he was certainly going to.
lyndswitt:
Lyndsay walked into the store, and seeing that he clearly wasn’t giving her much attention, which she never liked in any sort of scenario, she said seriously, “My car is literally on fire.” She hoped that would bring his eyes up to her, and upon seeing her grinning face he’d likely know she was just kidding.
her words catching his attention, although he highly doubted that she would be so calm if her car was actually on fire, tate looked up only to see the grin on her face. clearly a joke. “you’re awfully happy for someone with a car in flames.” he replied sarcastically.
traintobequeen:
With a sigh of relief at his words Alice sat down with a smile, letting herself relax ever so slightly into the chair although not enough to be visible that she was doing so. “Apparently so, imagine if we were all still in horse and carts, no one would get anywhere at all! Did you want anouther, you’re sure?” She pointed to his coffee, more than willing to buy him a second a penance for her lateness. She didn’t think it was acceptable. “So how have you been?”
leaning back slightly in his seat when she sad down he nodded at the thought. “yeah, and it would probably smell even worse.” he pointed out before shaking his head at the gesture. “no, i’m sure. it’s really fine, don’t worry about it. i really only ordered this because i was here, i’m not a big coffee drinker.” he assured her. “i’ve been alright. just busy, you know, between work and the kids. how have you been?”
emiliadmntxne:
emilia was sure the shop is still open. she hated the attitude, but all she could do right now is to roll her eyes and try not to piss him off because she actually needed his help now. “oh, it’s an emergency.” she said with a concerned look on her facial features. “i have to ditch my date since he’s starting to get really emotional with me right now, thinking that we’re gonna end up marrying each other in a few years.” she told him, feeling her cheeks burn as she covers her face from embarrassment. “help?”
hearing that it was in fact an emergency, tate turned his full attention to the girl. he wasn’t a total dick, if someone really needed the help he wouldn’t leave them stranded. however, this wasn’t the kind of emergency he was so eager to help with. hearing what she needed he sighed, rolling his eyes a bit. “how do you expect me to help with that? just tell the guy to fuck off.” definitely not a request he got often, that was for sure.
alxsoares:
Alex finished his song and heard no claps, obviously. Some people giggled, which was fine by him, but he desperately needed a drink. As he approached the bar counter, he spotted a place to sit down and drow his sorrows and tears in alcohol. “Uh- is this seat taken?” he asked the male with a drink on his hand. “Sorry for the terrible singing by the way.”
thank god that was over. tate wouldn’t ever understand the appeal of karaoke. singing in front of a bunch of drunk strangers was not something he thought of us fun. hearing the voice he glanced over his shoulder before shaking his head. “nope, it’s all yours.” he offered, recognizing the male from the stage. “it’s alright. you’re not the worst i’ve heard. plus the alcohol helps.” he was mostly joking, the guy seemed quite down and tate wasn’t trying to pile on.
tyra-moore:
Tyra had been on her way home from work, an interview with an old lady somewhere outside of London, when her car just stopped and wouldn’t start again, no matter what she did. And with the battery of her phone being empty as well, she couldn’t even call anyone to pick her up. The only good thing about it was the sign of a car repair shop just a few hundred metres away. When she had finally reached the building, Tyra didn’t even realise how late it already was, she just sighed with relief when the front door opened, meaning there still had to be someone in there. Glancing at her watch when she immediately heard the voice of a man, the girl shook her head. “No fire!”, she shrugged, “But my car broke, I don’t have a phone, well at least none that works, and need to get back into the city..”
as much as tate really wanted, and needed, to get home he couldn’t in good conscience actually leave someone stranded. damn conscience, always ruining his want to be a heartless bastard. maybe he’d get lucky and it was just something small, and he wouldn’t be too late getting home. “how far away is it?” that was the question. he’d either walk with her and take a look at it, or offer his phone for her to call a ride depending on the distance.
bodhithomasx:
bodhi smirked as she pushed her hands in to her back pockets and walked further inside the shop. “and what if my car is on fire, dude? are you gonna go all macho fireman on me?” she raised her eyebrows at the other man and then looked at the clock as well. “fine. i know how busy your life is so i guess if my car blows up on the way back from the stadium tonight it’s completely on you.”
tate stared blankly at the female, sighing softly. he really wasn’t in the mood to humor anyone at the moment. “then you should have called the fireman and not come to a mechanic shop.” he replied bluntly, rolling his eyes slightly at her tone when she went on. “don’t push your blame onto me just because you waited until close to bring in your car. if it was that close to blowing up, you should have brought it in sooner. that’s on you.”
synthetict:
silent at first , hardly expecting a response ( let alone a friendly greeting ) , solemn glance in the direction of the low timbre ; admittedly , the attitude took aubrey by surprise . so much so that she felt inclined to explain the issue at hand , tone uncharacteristically apologetic . ❝ don’t mean to step on any toes , so just hear me out . ❞ silence cued as if she was about to tell the punchline of a joke , only the nature of this situation was far too serious . ❝ the engine in my car —- in my piece of shit , HUNK-OF-JUNK car —- is shot . ❞ aubrey had tried calling her spouse , and has yet to hear back from them , but it’s been close to an hour since she’d left a series of voicemails for them so this seemed to be the most feasible option . in truth , it was merely coincidental that her car died within walking distance of a mechanic’s shop . ❝ truly not expecting you to fix it at this time of night , but maybe if i could bum a ride with you , if that’s all right ? i can pay you … you know , for gas expenses . ❞
at times like these, tate regretted not locking the front door early. if he hadn’t already been scolded for doing it so many times, he definitely would have. normally he wouldn’t mind taking a quick look at someone’s car, but he was tired. and he didn’t have work the next day which made him want to get out of there even more. “i would, but i take the tube here. so i mean, you can ride that, i’m not really qualified to decide who does and doesn’t get to ride the tube.” he shrugged gently. ironically, the mechanic didn’t even own a car. mostly because he knew driving in this city would just piss him off. “or i can call you a cab? i’m not much help when it comes to rides.”
eloise-royce:
“apology accepted.” she grinned and nodded. “i suppose that’s fair, 10 years can do a lot. but its good to see you tate.” elle laughed a little. she had known tate back in california, and the last place she expected to see him was London, England. “well, i’m currently trying to buy a battery for my cruiser before my Captain chews my ass out again. it died on patrol and if I don’t fix it, well, let’s just say i’m already on thin ice.” she shrugged before turning the question back on him. “but what about you? london is not exactly what i remember being a hot spot for you.”
“thank goodness,” he replied with a small smile before nodding. “ten years treated you a lot better than me. but yeah, it’s good to see you too.” having not been back to california since he was eighteen, it was a bit strange to see someone he’d known so long ago. “i’m surprised you guys don’t have your own private garage that takes care of the cars for you.” he mused. “but i can help you, what kind of car is it?” tate moved around the counter towards the small stock. “kind of a long story. the short version is i joined the navy and got stationed over here. i’m out now but this is where my kids were born. plus there’s not really anything for me back in the states.” he shrugged.
clementinearaya:
“Well don’t you know how to treat a girl.” Clementine could barely hold the sarcasm back, her day had already gone to total shit and the last ounce of patience she was willing to give had been used up on her car deciding to splutter to a holt. “Unless you want me sleeping in here, you should grab a coat cause I broke down a mile out and you’re the lucky guy who gets to help me.”
“i treat everyone the same. equality and all that.” tate pointed out, ignoring her obvious sarcasm. looking up from what he was doing he let out a soft sigh. this was why he wasn’t normally at the front. people took out their shit days on whoever they could. “i don’t really make house calls, especially not this close to quitting time. call a tow, i’ll get to it tomorrow morning.”
lenikane:
“I thought I was meant to be the one that was grumpy at the moment, are you really going to take that fucking tone with me?” Leni cackled, heading into the shop with a lazy smirk on her lips. “I’ve just had too much fucking girl time that’s all, thought we could hang out for a bit, I’m meant to be at home on bed rest but Emilia and Alec were doing my head in, if I have to hear her sing frozen or him screaming solidly for hours anymore I might just jump off a bridge. So, tell me what is going on that’s interesting?”
“what, only one of us is allowed to be grumpy at a time?” tate questioned, eyeing the girl as she spoke. as a father of two young children he knew the annoyance of disney and screaming way more than he’d like to admit. “you mean you don’t enjoy an acoustic version of let it go with background vocals?” he joked sarcastically. “you came here for something interesting? this isn’t exactly buckingham palace, you know.”
eloise-royce:
with elle’s police car dying earlier this morning, it was her responsibility to get it fixed before the next day. however, with all the paperwork she had to do, she hadn’t had a chance to leave the office until now. the blonde sighed as she walked into the shop, immediately walking toward the batteries before hearing a familiar voice. Backtracking and walking toward the counter, elle confirmed it as indeed a familiar face as well.. “what a way to great an old friend.” she smirked as she rested against the counter.
normally tate at least tried to be more friendly when he was up front. not that it usually succeeded. customer service was not his strong point. but it had been a long day and he wasn’t in the mood to pretend. it took him a moment to realize just who the girl was. when you don’t see someone for over ten years, they tend to change a bit. “well my apologies. in my defense, you look a lot different than you did ten years ago.” he replied with a hint of a smile on his lips. “what the hell are you doing here?”
