I was super bad about uploading pretty much ANYTHING to this blog this year, but here’s some stuff illustrations and a comic I drew that I’m still pretty pleased with. Gonna try and get better about posting stuff here next year, even if most people have jumped ship.

Magnetic North, chapter 1, page 16.

So you’ve probably notice I tag most comics with “characters of color”. That’s because Steve’s Native American. He’s white bread Native American in the “welp, i’m not white so okay” kind of way a lot of kids I grew up with were. His sister is far more into the culture. There are reasons for all of this that even in the current pages haven’t necessarily been addressed.

But I’m making a point on this page. Steve says “it was a couple of irish guys” and mentions his grandfather. His grandfather does have native blood but he can’t trace it to a family member or a tribe and he codes as white so everyone defaults to the Irish blood (if you want the world building reason, he’s from a Mohawk tribe but through his father’s father’s bloodlines, and if I’m remembering correctly you can only call yourself Mohawk if it’s through your mother sooooooo). Steve’s native blood comes from his paternal grandmother and father. So there’s that explained in a really long winded way.

TL;DR, Steve’s Native American/Irish.
