“You’re right, I should probably keep my mouth shut.” She nodded softly. In truth, she didn’t know much about the battle of Jakku. Most of the stories were myths or stories that had been stretched. History datapads were hardly easy to come by on Jakku. “I’d hate to say the wrong thing and it mess up time and somehow the Empire win.” She joked weakly.
She continued with her job of stripping out the wiring and parts that could be sold. Anything else would be taken as scrap to be melted down. “I don’t think you should go too far, these old ships can be full of surprises.” She admitted, lifting her goggles for a moment. “I know you can do it, just be careful and try the next room over…” She smiled softly.
❝ i didn’t mean to make you feel self-conscious. i think we both have good intentions, as far as keeping everything the way it should be goes. ❞ luke starts navigating down the rope, taking care as he passes rey to not jostle her too much. rey can take care of herself, but accidents can still happen. they must be careful.
❝ do you remember when i told you i think the force brought me here for a reason? i still believe that. ❞ the words are only slightly strained, but just enough to indicate the effort with which he is taking care in climbing down the rope. he stows the part he had scavenged before away, and starts tinkering with the blast door he finds below. surely this ship is entirely out of power, which makes it unfortunate that the blast door had remained intact --- and closed. still, he has the force as his ally, so he has faith that he will be able to get it open.
❝ give me a minute, these blast doors won’t budge without power. ❞ he starts tinkering with a panel by the door, as though trying to gauge its functionality. it is a tedious task, and he finds himself making conversation once more.
❝ speaking of the force . . . it feels like you have it too. it’s just this sense i get . . . like the force brought you here for a reason, too. i know it sounds crazy, but . . . is it possible you’ve gotten that sense, as well? ❞
++ not going into detail about what’s going on right now because it’s just a bummer, but i’m going through stuff, and i’ll probably be using writing as a distraction. so if you want to write with me, just hit me up in the dms, send in a meme, or like a starter call. all of that is greatly appreciated.

Rey began rifling through her bag as Luke tied the scarf around his mouth to prevent the sometimes poisonous dust getting into his lungs. It really depends on how melted the ship was when it crashed. “It’s estimated that over a hundred ships, Rebel Alliance and Imperial, crashed into the sands of Jakku. Some of them were covered up by sandstorms that followed the battle.” She explained.
As she spoke, she began working on extracting some of the more valuable scrap. “So, every now and again, the sandstorms come back and unearth another ship. Perfectly in tact. Another sand storm comes, shifts the dunes about, and the scavengers find new ships.” She commented. “Star Destroyers don’t get covered, this side along ships do.”
❝ well ahead of my time, then . . . but maybe just knowing there was a battle here won’t change anything. as long as that’s all i know . . . ❞ a sense of uneasiness settles in his gut, but he refuses to let that bad feeling derail their mission here. since rey was so kind to lend him a hand when he suddenly found himself stranded on this planet, he is determined to repay the favor.
he’s not trained in the force well enough to train her into a master. he can barely float objects as it is. this, though, he can do. he can help her scavenge, and together, perhaps they can find enough scraps to acquire more food. it may be one of the only things he can help her do --- she is entirely self-sufficient from what he has gathered.
❝ should i go down a little further? we can get more done that way. ❞ he starts tinkering with the exposed technology in his spot, but he knows if they work in the same area, they will waste energy working around each other.
❝ i may be new at this, but i can do it. you have my word. ❞

❝ either way? i’ve been called so many things. sith? well, that depends on the day. ❞ actually, it depended on his mood, but lately he was more in the middle — he blamed his own teachings. his own history for that. he could have just gone deep down the dark side and stay there, but he liked being just by the edge of the waters of the force. never too deep, but only if necessary. the last time he found himself too deep was when he was attempting to extend his life. he succeeded of course, but not without consequences.
❝ you’re definitely not a jedi, that’s for sure . . . but it doesn’t seem like you’re lost to the dark side. strange . . . ❞ everything master yoda had tried to teach him was rooted in the idea that any divergence from the light side leads to the dark side. for someone like this man to exist, who does not seem firmly rooted in either . . . well, it’s a new experience, to say the least.
if only this man didn’t work for the empire. being a force user will probably get him killed by the very people he works for.
❝ you know how the empire treats force users. there’s no way you don’t know. why take such a risk if you’re just trying to stay alive? you’d be better off with the rebellion, or running, even . . . not that i’m saying you should. so why work for the empire? ❞
