How much shenanigans do you think would have happened if the Ambarussar survived and existed at the same time as little Elrond and Elros?
I mean these are still the same elves that were all in favor of sacking a refugee camp so I don't think there'd be any twin solidarity going on anytime soon but consider: grown ass men Amrod and Amras getting jealous of the affection the Peredhel twins are receiving from their older brothers
@colorfultomatofruit thots?
Yeah, no way in hell are both twins going to be normal about the other set. Especially considering that in canon and in fandom Amrod & Amras are often ignored and left to the side, and that in older versions they were the ones who pushed for the third kinslaying.
So imagine seeing the same older brothers, who you feel like, donât give a shit about you, (youâve never interesting enough and then useful enough for them) love the children of the people you murdered. The people who murdered your older brothers, the ones that refused to give you one if things that could end your oath, who sent only two soldiers to Nirneath Arnoedad; causing the deaths of so many loved ones. It would definitely add more issues into this mess.
I think there would be a big mix of distain to their older brothers for betraying them (bc they care for E &E), distain for E&E themselves, the questioning of if their older brothers can love this set of twins-why couldnât it be them?-and jealousy because of that.
While I donât think Amrod and Amras would be violent towards elros and Elrond, no love is going to grow between them.
I do think in a less stressful time maybe the two twins could have gotten along but since Elrond and Elros are a product of the insecurities and grudges the Ambarussar have possibly been holding for a long time the love that grew between their brothers and the Peredhels would send them over the edge. Yeah they're going to have the most passive-aggressive rivalry with those tiny children (and they're going to lose lol)
Yess! Itâs passive-aggressive, pathetic, and it is the last straw for their mental sanity!
Truly they are Feanor's sons
Never said it had to be getting along shenanigans... You do have points. It would probably be passive aggressive shenanigans. Elros getting a hug from Mardhros and making eye contact with Amros with a smug grin would probably be a daily occurrence. Maedhros thinks they get along well. Elrond is hiding all of the Ambarussar's jewelry in Maglor's room and when he gets caught by Maedhros says they let him borrow it and he wants Maglor's help.

I was playing Baldur's Gate 3 awhile ago and let me tell you, I haven't even gotten anywhere and it's already an experience. Met Astarion. His clothes did not render. At all. I could see everything.
Fëanor but if he was a fae king

Elrond in front of a window in Rivendel.
For @just-little-human (you suggested me drawing Elrond like 3 months ago... here he is!!)
Maglor bonds with Elros over their intense and, frankly, disturbing (according to Maedhros and Elrond) love of horses
J. R. R. Tolkien: no, my books aren't about the war I experienced. It's just a story
J. R. R. Tolkien's works: you cannot go home, war ends entire bloodlines, you are mourning the death of your brother alone, you dug into the earth and permanently scored the land, you cannot explain what you have been through, you cannot go home, "that wound will never fully heal. He will carry it the rest of his life", leaving the women behind does not save them, the young die first, you cannot go home, the parent will bury their child, you have lost the wives and you will never connect with them again, "how shall any tower withstand such numbers and such reckless hate?", you are not the same, you cannot go home, you can never go home, your father will only side with those he sees as worthy bloodlines and you cannot change his mind, it is more meaningful Not to kill, sometimes your sacrifice accomplishes nothing, you cannot go home

Elrond: Let the games begin!
Annatar: What games? What games?!
The Choice of the Peredhel. Or Something.
also known as an excuse to draw Elros looking like a guy from one of my guzhuang dramas.
i think a lot about elrond after celebrĂan departed for valinor. elrond, kind as summer elrond, his two boys half-mad with grief, little arwen too small to understand why her mother couldnât come back. did elrond take a break from his work? did he ever resent himself for not saving her spirit, even if he could heal her body? when an elf came to him for healing after celebrĂan left, did his hands shake? did he see her in every one of his patients? did he ever stop feeling the panic of knowing that he had not saved the one person he most longed to help, of knowing that he could not save everyone?
I know that Peterâs Jackson Lord of the Rings trilogy technically has flaws but alsoâŠ.it doesnât. Itâs perfect.
âAre these magic cloaks?â asked Pippin, looking at them. with wonder.
âI do not know what you mean by that,â answered the leader of the Elves. âThey are fair garments, and the web is good, for it was made in this land. They are Elvish robes certainly, if that is what you mean. Leaf and branch, water and stone: they have the hue and beauty of all these things under the twilight of Lorien that we love; for we put the thought of all that we love into all that we make.â
- Fellowship of the Ring, Chapter 8: Farewell to Lorien
This is how I think of Jacksonâs movies. Yes, there are serious flaws - Gandalfâs de-powering, Gimli as comic relief, and Faramir, namely - but come on.
Remember when the guys making their chain mail invented a new method for quickly producing large amounts of it by hand? Remember Miranda Otto walking down the street, practicing sword positions? The guys who forged all of the swords - for leads and for extras? The men and women riders who volunteered to be riders of Rohan? The costume designers who designed the inside of Theodenâs armor (which no one would ever see) so beautifully that Bernard Hill said he felt like a king? The friendships between the cast, and their size doubles, and the stuntmen?
When they made that movie, they put all that they loved into all that they made.
#just hundreds of people who went âsure let me try thisâ #and they made something breathtaking #and then they made it 12 more times in different sizes ( @byjoveimbeinghumbleâ )
Wait tell me more about that chainmail thing
âKaynemaile has worked tirelessly to perfect the material science behind beautiful architectural mesh, collaborating with architects and designers on projects that embolden urban environments with positive buildings. The companyâs patented polycarbonate mesh, inspired by 2,000-year-old medieval chainmail, was initially created for the armor and weapons seen in the The Lord of The Rings movie trilogy and is now used on major architectural projects around the world.
âThe filmâs art director and Kaynemaileâs founder Kayne Horsham worked with his team to construct each garment from plastic plumbing tubes, coating them in pure silver. Once filming wrapped, Horsham dedicated himself to creating a change to the liquid state assembly process to mass produce the polycarbonate chainmail for architectural applications â products that were light, but strong enough to protect the interior or exterior of a building. Now an industry-leading manufacturer, Kaynemaile produces mesh for everything from small interior screens to large scale exterior façades. Their mesh is easy to install and can be custom created for specialized applications.â

Kaynemaile's patented mesh façade systems are incredibly lightweight and easy to install while bringing a bold look to any scale building.
YOU GUYS
they took forced perspective and scaled sets to a new level by adding moving set pieces to create the illusion that the hobbits and dwarves were much smaller than everyone else even when the camera moved.
every scene you see in the 11+ hours of glory that is the LOTR masterpiece is most like ridiculously elaborate or expensiveâfrom model towers to the all-new motion capture technology used for gollum to the costumes and sets to the aerial on location shots of mother-fracking new zealand and the big impressive battle scenes and horse charges.
but then the story and the screenplay tooâthere is just SO much lore that is there in the background lurking if you want to look for it, yet it still remains simplified for the average viewer. Crazy impressive feat.
And the acting is heartfelt and real and makes you love the characters.
ALSO DONâT GET ME STARTED ON FREAKING HOWARD SHORE AND HIS 100+ HEARTSHATTERINGLY BEAUTIFUL LIETMOTIFS AND BRILLIANT SUBTLE VARIATIONS IN THE FLIPPING 13 HOUR SOUNDTRACK. AND ENYA SINGING IN REAL ELVISH.
The imperfections of the final product are reduced by the love that went into crafting it.

co-high kings galadriel & celeborn
since elrond doesn't want the kingship, galadriel & celeborn are the eldest in middle-earth of the lines of Olwe and Elmo respectively. olwe is older but hes the king of the teleri not specifically doriath sindar so there might be some dispute between which line the sindarin high kingship jumps to, but they very conveniently happen to already be married and so can skip all that and just be twice the headache for sauron
