i never noticed the change of the phrase "promising young man" in would've, could've, should've before because it's already a stupid condescending phrase used to excuse the actions of men coming up in the world but by changing it to "grown man" she's making both a commentary on that BUT also a jab at this projected innocence of someone and staining their career when they are older and completely established there's nothing "promising" about his trajectory this IS who he is and will continue to be but the blame will never be cast on him because no matter the age of men "boys will be boys" while women should know better
the distorted "yeah. yeah. yeah" in the outro of cruel summer after she says the final "i love you ain't that the worst thing you've ever heard?" ..............yeah
happy pride month

i'm strong on every other merch drop but she gets me every holiday season i can't lie
all too well (og) is genuinely so good and holds such a high quality to it that like the ten minute version is also good but it will NEVER be the same level as the original
the thing about Girl at Home is that she's not calling other girls stupid it's just the most punchy way to say naive because she's commentating on how cheaters typically frame and justify cheating by other telling the person they're cheating with that their relationship is dead and they're leaving them OR by hiding the fact that they're in a relationship at all. Girl at Home is literally just saying that "you want to treat me like i'm stupid and i don't know any of this but i have first hand experience with someone who was the exact same!" anyway...
“and you come away with a great little story of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you” is one of the best lyrics taylor has ever written, and it’s crazy to think that she wrote it when she was just 15 years old
