I actually love Maroon being a bunch of synonyms for red and then her settling on maroon, which is a much more faded red. Like, at first her reactionary feelings were burning red, and now they’re a faded red. Like she still remembers the passion that was there, but more dimly, more dulled, more faded. The scarlet, the burgundy show that transition from a bright red to a more darkened, blunted shade. Good for her

i’m obsessed with the way she essentially calls herself an unreliable narrator of her own life in dear reader because it’s so true!!! like with every album she ends with this magnificent triumphant song that strongly declares that it’s okay now and she’s emerged unbroken - these things will change, long live the walls we crashed through, i watched it begin again, i think i am finally clean, don’t read the last page, now i see daylight, take me to the lakes where all the poets went to die, this pain wouldn’t be forevermore - and it just isn’t!!!!!!! she wanted to tie all her problems up with a bow and package it up real nice to give us the happy ending she wanted and we so badly wanted for her and for ourselves and it ended up just making her feel subhuman and un-whole and like she wasn’t being honest.

Taylor Swift’s sixth studio album, reputation, was released in 1979 on the heels of several high-profile feuds and increasingly invasive rumours about her dating life. It was redesigned for the CD format in 2015 and included a new song called “Sylvester Sky” and a cover of Joni Mitchell’s classic “Both Sides Now.” While it did not make it onto any album, ‘The Lucky One’ was often performed at reputation concerts and shows. Swift has not been seen since the release of her last album, folklore, and it seems as though she truly has chosen ‘the rose garden’ over Madison Square.

As for lyrical content, reputation deals with themes of fame, secrecy, love, and rebirth. It is built on the bedrock of love as a kingdom (most notable in ‘King of my Heart’) and otherwise describes the golden romance Swift has often sung about. It was one of the most critically acclaimed albums of its year, but Swift refused to submit it for Grammys.

Critics such as Alice Lam have noted that the private love which thrives on reputation dies painfully and repeatedly on folklore, prompting them to be re-released together in a bundle that documents the birth and death of Swift’s final relationship.
