hey!! sorry to pester and i know your busy and have other priorities, but do you have a time frame for the next instalment in the “u/ClosetedInDaPitt”?

I wish I had a time frame 😔 my original plan was to start regularly posting again today but I got so extremely busy with work & socializing (ik I was surprised too) that I never got time to work on the actual coding + script writing of both the interlude & the second part of u/closetedindapitt

I will try and crank out some parts soon (or at least work on them some more). Right now I’m about 33% done with the sequel’s script and 75% done with ;TLDR.

Cannot stop thinking about Baran Al-Hashimi

Baran who has had seizures for almost as long as she can remember, who got sick as a child and never fully recovered. Baran who went into a war zone, witnessed unspeakable horrors, because she wants to help people. Baran who came to PTMC as an attending, in charge of one of the busiest EDs, because she wants to help people, even when people do not receive her well, her job is to help people, and if she can improve the system at the same time she will try her fucking hardest.

And doing all of this, being an excellent doctor, maintaining kindness and empathy for both patients and colleagues, she is trying to manage seizures. God i love her.

I want to add to this that she approached Robby after watching him the entire day lie to her and belittle other doctors and she watched it through eyes of empathy. She knows he must be burned out, that’s why she’s campaigning for two attendings because it’s hard work and she appreciates it and the work Robby has done.

She approached him post him calling out unintentional misogyny and telling the paramedics to not argue about it and instead listen to the females in their field. She specified how she valued his opinion and looked away in fear of him judging her for something out of her control, maybe even out of embarrassment.

If the preview for next week is anything to go by he does not respond with the empathy he should have and instead responded the same way he’s been responding all day. And maybe that’s what she wanted after all, but it doesn’t make it right.

I love the little scene between Shen and Abbot trying to figure out how to make the shift work. “Man to man or zone” “want to switch at 1am?” It’s showing that two attendings at PTMC works. That it’s not a fluke, they work well together because they trust the other one. Robby said it himself, he only feels like he has a purpose when he’s within those walls, working as chief and attending. There’s a fear that if he shows that he needs a second attending on shift with him, Gloria and the board will think he’s not cut out for this kind of work. He calls himself Sisyphus, when in reality he’s Atlas. He’s not pushing a rock up a hill watching it roll down again, he’s holding up the entire world, knowing if he lets it fall it’s game over. Sisyphus watches as things fall all the time, Robby cannot afford that.

Two attendings is not sabotage or declaring defeat, it is self preservation and self care. It is Joy leaving when her shift ends because she doesn’t want to burn out. It’s Donnie leaving because he has a wife and baby at home who need him. It’s Emma working so closely with Dana so that she can make sure Dana is okay. It’s Al-Hashimi asking for help because she trusts and respects Robby. It’s Dana reaching out to Abbot begging for his help.

It’s community and allowing yourself to ask and seek help. It works, you just have to let it in.

Update on part 2 of u/closetedindapitt

I’m still working on the in between chapters of the parts (titled TLDR) to help set things up for the second part. I’m about a fourth of the way of the script for the second part, which follows Dennis as he tries to navigate Grindr, writing a paper, and having an unrequited crush on his boss as well as dealing with the aftermath of coming out to Broken Bow. It’s been super fun to write I just had to take a break after almost burning myself out writing and publishing the original part all within the span of a month.

I’m super excited to share it with you 🫶🏻 maybe I’ll start posting again next week after the season finale

I use a website called Postfully for my text posts & Reddit posts on my laptop and then use beautifullycoded for the instagram posts. You can use both websites in your phone they’re just difficult to deal with 🥴

When I eventually write out the sequel (I’ve just been extremely busy the last month or so) that is the goal! In a way I’m going to have Dennis explore his sexuality through dating apps, going out with friends, and ect all while Parker is trying to hype up Shen to ask out Dennis but Shen’s scared of how it’ll come across (since yk he’s his boss and everything). What I’ve written so far is pretty fun (I get to code Grindr on AO3) and should turn out well whenever I actually sit down and write it!

When Dr. Al-Hashimi told Samira that she’d do well in geriatrics it was a compliment of her ability as a doctor. That she had been watching Mohan and recognized the untapped potential.

When Robby told her the same thing it was an underhanded comment. That it was more her speed. She was dismissing her once again. He might’ve not seen it that was, but she’s the Lucy Knight to his John Carter.

There’s a reason she doesn’t trust Robby and yet idolizes him at the same time. Her dad’s dead and here is a man who sometimes praises her like a father would a child, she just needs to figure out how to unlock that praise indefinitely but she needs to be a white man
