Sentimental Things, Chapter 1
Commission piece by @jaimeedraws
The stranger stirred with a pained groan. He shrugged his shoulders stiffly, eyes squeezed shut and jaw clenched, before cracking one eye open and turning his head to look directly into the van’s headlights. Just for a fleeting moment, Greg swore he saw his eyes glow a reflective pink in the lights, reminiscent of some sort of wild, nocturnal hunter.
The dark of the night and stress were clearly playing tricks on him, but Greg’s body reacted anyway. His arm hair stood on end, and he suppressed a full-body shudder.
“What even…” the stranger muttered. He looked further down and saw his entire lower body pinned beneath the front of Greg’s van, furrowed his brows, and suddenly -much too swiftly for someone who’d just been hit- swung his head to look at Greg, whose hand was still hovered, hanging fruitlessly in the air over his shoulder.

“Hi, I’m Stephan. I’m...uh, a friend of your mom. What’s your name?” he asked kindly, holding out a hand for a shake.
The kid didn’t respond at first, but then lightly slapped Stephan's hand in a sort of limp hi-five and muttered out “Sour Cream” in a barely perceptible voice.
Stephan grinned.
“Hey, you know how to do a fist bump?” he curled his hand into a fist and offered it out to Sour Cream, who still eyed at him warily. “You make a fist too, and then we bump them together. It’s like a cooler Hi-Five,” Stephan explained, still waiting with his fist out.
Sour Cream quietly repeated “cooler?” before following Stephan's instructions, tapping his fist to the older kid's. Stephan’s grin widened, and he slowly found himself smiling back, nodding approvingly.
“Yeah. Cooler.”
Sentimental Things, Chapter 6
Commission from @vixscribs
Stephan appeared to shrink under the weight of her look. Greg could see him anxiously clenching at the front of his shirt, as if trying to shield himself-
…
-She tilted her head curiously, humming softly as she looked at Stephan like he was some sort of bug under a microscope. He, in turn, looked like he was being held at gunpoint.
“I’m not sure why Amethyst referred to you as 'Replacement Greg’, you look nothing like him,” she muttered, looking between them with a squint. “Regardless, I’m here for serious business, not to make small talk. If you see a white sundial with a large blue stone on the gnomon, I’d appreciate it if you stay away from it and immediately find a Gem to handle the artifact- such a precious item being unaccounted for amongst humans could be detrimental.”
She sniffed, tilting her head back as if to look further down upon Greg, who rolled his eyes.
Here’s a proto-boxed AU Steven I doodled months back when I was just playing with the idea of doing a historical AU
it was based on a weskit my team made for a commission order, original garment below
finding my favorite authors on tumblr and it turns out they're also spectacular artists.... life is good life is so good. hi 💚
Omg thank you, I appreciate your kind words!
I’m biting at the bit to do more for Sentimental Things, I’m just swamped atm. Hopefully I can start posting both art and writing again soon!!
Sentimental things chapter 7
Commissioned art by @starp1ll
And there he was- Stephan. Greg had looked through the temple rather thoroughly before, but it was as though the teenager had suddenly appeared, sitting lax on the warp pad, legs crossed and expression reserved…
….He looked around at the creeping vines enveloping the temple, slowly encroaching on their space. His young face was marred with a frown. “You dream about her a lot,” Stephan observed passively. There was an inflection to his voice that Greg couldn’t quite place- almost sad, and knowing.
“Well, she’s the biggest thing going on in my life? I mean? Outside of helping you right now.” Greg sat down next to Stephan on the warp pad and stretched out his legs.
Stephan stared at Greg’s bleeding feet with an intense look.
“She needs to take better care of the people close to her.”
“Hey, don’t judge. You haven’t even met her!” Greg defended, voice pitched loud, Stephan jerked, eyes wide. An unnatural pink flush bloomed on his face and crept to his ears, his fingers twisting in his lap and he turned, pointedly facing away from Greg.
“No. You’re right, I haven’t.”
They sat there in silence, the vines crept closer. At this point, there was no ground clear of the spiked tendrils, and Greg pulled his legs up into the warp pad to avoid further injury.
“I think I’ve had this dream before. The ending isn’t fun.” Greg muttered, scooting back towards the center of the warp pad…
