He extends an arm, reaching out, and sure enough -- programming actually responds, pieces twisting away to replace his splayed hand with the weakly-glowing end of a laser cannon.

He’s... not as impressed by this as he probably should be. Something about being rewarded his own stolen functions kind of sours the fun of it, and it’s one of his more violence-focused functions at that.

The skateboard’s kinda cool, though.

Black Tea ❧ What was the biggest challenge they experienced in the city?

uh, the house. definitely the house. i keep mentioning how uncomfortable he was with it because he was seriously not into the idea of living in a big ol’ building all alone, and he probably slept in the forest in cotes or just literally anywhere else this entire time.

(there’s also something to be said about how it reminds him of tobio’s life too much, but we don’t need to unpack all that.)

it’s already better now that he knows martel is around, though! still a little uncomfortable since she won’t always be, but it’s gonna be less of a struggle to sleep there now.

i guess to specifically list a few out, bass and grimm basically live in his head rent-free; ismael, coco, and martel are already people he’d actively seek out, too. probably razor and mirae as well? i mean --

you’d think he’d want ocha, more of his actual dad, or uran, his little sister -- but, no, he wouldn’t want them to experience the fear and confusion that ending up on radiale causes. that, and people back home need them. he’d only be briefly happy to see them, and then he’d be ridiculously upset and worried because they need to get home.

tenma, though? nobody needs him, not really. but atom would like to see him again, and talk with him, and maybe an experience like this would help give him a fresh start on the path of normalcy. that’s something atom would really like to see one day, but he’s not sure it’d be possible back home.

mm, despite how atom carries himself, i think the ultimate answer to this is no.

he’s met wonderful people already, and they’ve been a joy to be around, but if given the choice between how things are now vs. everyone going home, he wouldn’t need to think too hard on it.

being unquestionably considered a person is a nice plus. everything else, though -- taken from his family, systems all locked up, dealing with the eccentrics of radiale after finally approaching peace back home -- it makes truly enjoying anything here difficult. there’s an undercurrent of sadness that he’s not sure he’ll ever shake off.

the more he smiles, the easier it is to ignore, at least.
