“A whirlwind of emotions”
This painting represents Sunday May 2, 2021. This was the day of my last career track meet. I also found out that day that my uncle unexpectedly lost his battle with cancer. Growing up I always had Christmas at my uncle’s house. We would always decorate the Christmas tree together. The Christmas tree is my first symbolic object. It represents a beautiful memory I share with my uncle. On Sunday May 2, 2021 the temperatures were close to 90 degrees when I was running my race. Not used to the Virginia heat, I kept pushing myself in memory of my uncle. That race was run in his memory. The yellow bow represents the hair piece I wear when I am racing. A yellow bow was my special running good luck charm. The black track symbol in the corner represents closure in my life. I had two closures on May 2, 2021 my uncle’s death and my last track race.
