Differences in Water Signs/Possible Black Sheep/Outlier
The Water Sign can be harder to differentiate. They are ruled by emotions, are creative, sensitive, intuitive, compassionate, associated with healing and magic, have depth, have the pros and cons to in-depth feeling.
Let’s talk magic. If you dig all signs have a sense of “magic”. But the Water element has a historical association to magic. Typically Scorpio takes on dark magic or magical forms many societies deem as taboo. Really this can change based on time, society, etc. Pisces has a connection to a more spiritual magic. Cancer has a connection to witchcraft and spells, typically with paganism roots. But this is more of a category, which can always change. i.e. a society can view paganism as taboo so it belongs to Scorpio. Unearth the spiritual side to any magic and you lead back to Pisces. Look at spells or really, “practical use” towards magic in any culture and we get Cancer.
Scorpio gets this label as being passionate and deep, Cancer with sensitivity and moodiness, Pisces with emotional outburst or change/fluid. But all of the water signs are equally as deep, passionate, and sensitive. Pisces due to their mutable mode can be seen as the most expressive with their feelings but illusion and secrecy still hold a place with their character, usually manifesting with elusive behavior. Everyone talks about Scorpio’s secrecy but their passion allows them to express eventually and usually with a strong impression. Cancer is a highly protective and guarded sign, because of this their moodiness really isn’t seen as often as many claim.
In romance or close relationships Pisces wants to become one with their partner, engulf them. Cancer is all about unity and building a home and/or life together. Scorpio is about fully understanding each other and being intimate with each other.
Scorpio has an urge to understand and master the world. Cancer wants to guard and take care of others in the world. Pisces wants to create as well as learn and live the human condition.
Scorpio always knows they are right, Cancer will refuse to be wrong, and Pisces will somehow trick you or manipulate you into thinking they are right. :p
Water is associated with healing. Scorpio can have a emphasis on self-healing, Cancer the healing of others, and Pisces both. However this is more of an emphasis rather than a total rule. Cancer in many placements has a great power to heal themselves and sometimes Pisces only seems to want to heal others.
Pisces has an emphasis on compassion and empathy. Cancer an emphasis on kindness and sympathy. Scorpio an emphasis on emotional inspiration and guidance as well as boosting another person’s energy. Again they merely lean this way rather than a complete association.
Cancer holds a grudge, Scorpio wants revenge, and Pisces forgives can be easy archetypes but once you dive in there is a lot of “murky” complications.
This post is really highlighting the similarities of the Water Signs than differences. For an element that is so encompassing… this can make sense.
If we had to give the signs some things of their own, I’d still say Pisces is the most flexible and fluid Water sign, Cancer the most protective on many levels, and Scorpio the most intense. While the obvious choice for a black sheep is Scorpio, this is only due to their famous “intensity”. But remember Scorpio ultimately is a more reserved and responsive sign. Scorpio may have the passion to compete with Fire but they are Water, living in a world of receptiveness and reaction rather than action. I would like to nominate Pisces due to their changeability. They can twist and mold into the perfect water droplet but also disguise themselves as a patient stone. But it is understandable to still see Scorpio as the one who stands out.
all i want is to be well-read, well-spoken, and well-loved.
