I feel like there would be no other way to preface this blog than with some introductions of the admin, after all. My name is Hal, I’m a senior in high school, and my life in tea had a very awkward start at the first and only anime convention of my local library, which I helped to plan. There, at the convention, there was black tea with spearmint, the bigelow brand ‘plantation mint’ tea. And for a long time, that was the only tea I was really familiar with. It was my daily drink in freshman year, while other girls brought their starbucks coffee. Course, this is also kind of humorous I guess since I’ve tried their teavanna black tea with lemonade. But this is beside the point. My interests, other that tea, that may occasionally litter this blog are that of, of course, anime, roleplaying, witchcraft, religion, philosophy, comedy (especially morbid humor) and my heavy interest in reptiles and other animals. I’ve been trying to get more into different teas, yoga, religious practices, as well as developing some other more healthier habits, and I intend to use this blog to consolidate some of the advice/suggestions as well as my own experiences with them.
How about an introduction into my life in the past week or so? I was able to get ahold of a kombucha tea I had tried at a health convention. GT’s Synergy in the flavor gingerberry felt good, although I must say the second bottle I had of it, several days later, made my stomach ache a bit, but upon sipping water all was well. Then, upon a few conversations with my coworker, where I work at a vet office, we decided on a trip to the local grocery store, where I picked up a couple more gingerberry synergys, and a cosmic cranberry to try. On top of that, though I’ve found a liking to the nature valley sweet and salty almond bars.
but what kind of tea blog would this be without a review of a new tea-tea I tried? My first one that comes to mind is the Celestial brand Country Peach Passion. I think I originally brewed it for 8 minutes or so whilst my Knorr cheesy rice with broccoli cooked, and I think I added just a little sugar and almond milk to it, and it was good, but the next few bags of that same tea I made just didn’t taste quite right. Maybe I didn’t add enough sugar, or perhaps I added creamer? But I swore I didn’t add creamer because I don’t really like to do that with fruity or floral teas, and jasmine tea is one of the only exceptions to that. Hopefully I’ll be able to give a further update on this later and made a little note to myself on my preferred brewing time plus additions.
Another tea I tried was courtesy of a friend, who also helped get me into the tea hobby. I won’t name this friend or link his blogs simply because I’m not sure if he’d be comfortable with that, but anyway, this tea was a mixture of adagio’s silver needle (white tea) and ali shan (oolong tea). I’m not sure about what the mixture itself was or how long it was brewed for, but I know it was very smooth and calming for a young lady starting up her time of the month with agonizing cramps. 10/10
